    I don't think that's what happened. Broyles was heavier than Olivia, so when she transfered over, only the mass matching Olivia transfered over with Broyle, hence his remaining parts were automatically left behind, thus resulting in his charred body.

    I don't think the reason they needed Olivia was because it had to be Olivia in specific, but since she's identical to Otherlivia in mass, it would have more easily reached a balance. Thus, if they were to study her, the same parts would have been removed from Otherlivia in the transfer process to reach equilibrium. I'm sure they could have taken any person to switch places with Olivia, but I don't think they want to just kill any random civilian to serve the purpose.
