iTunes alternative?

I'm getting really tired of iTunes being a slow monstrosity that I'm pigeonholed into using for xfering songs onto my iPod. . . any other programs out there that will work as a music player as well as giving the option of transferring songs to the pod?

foobar2000 with the ipod plugin can do this. it's pretty intimidating to use if you've only used itunes before, though. unfortunately there doesn't yet exist a music player for windows that is fast, free, easy to use, and looks good. foobar is fast and free, and with a lot of work can look good too.
