Well, ancient beastcoin didn't suddently crash, and SE never changed their value introducing new method to obtain them (they did increase drop rate in temenos t2, and added the basement, but it's not that huge)

Anyway, while I agree it's lame to waste money (i bought my robe for 10m too), I prefer this game on easy mode. The less I play to progress, the better it is.

It's not even that it is unfair, it's that people who want things sooner pay a higher premium than everyone else. Just because you paid more for your item doesn't mean it's value to you goes down over time. If you were willing to pay 10M for your body, that piece was worth 10M to you. You can't even resell it, so why would you complain about a lower price now? It just means your next Salvage body piece will be cheaper, and how can you complain about that?

This is not just typical SE fashion, its typical life fashion. Hello iPhone? Hello computers? Hello automobiles? Hello anything that has a pricetag on it?

The sticker price on 2008 models needs to stay the same forever, because I paid premium price for this shit, bitch!

It's easy to predict the market (both in real life and in game) generally. What piss off people is the sudden change without any warning that SquareEnix is doing. Give people a 1-2 months warning, and everything will be fine probably.

Go QQ where people will actually have sympathy, because when it comes to the Salvage bodies...highly doubt it'll be seen here. I'm hoping this somehow adds another form of getting them cheaper, more gil in my pocket at the end of the day.

But I'll go craft some shit to make the gilz until SE decides to give me a walkthrough for the game and hold my hand.

Actually, it's incredibly difficult to predict "the market" (I assume you mean the stock market) or just about any part of the economy as a whole. There are whole fields of study dedicated to the subject.

I'm not talking about stock market in general, but about specific goods like car, computer, or anything like this. If you buy something now, you know what its value will be in a few years

Stock market is harder to predict, because there is hundred of different inputs that need to be studied, but when you go into something more specific, you will generally be able to guess it right. The economy in game is pretty simple, and if you can predict where it's going, that's why people feel ripped off when Square Enix add something that completely change their prediction

You are getting way too complicated with this. Whenever I want something, the price goes up. Whenever I buy something, the price immediately goes down. This shit is so easy to predict... -_-

I have no problem with SE driving down price with added supply as long as they tell the playerbase beforehand. Otherwise, you got people paying 10 mil for something 2 days before the patch that then becomes 2 mil - that's retarded.
They pulled the same shit with thief's knife

I paid 12mil for NQ weskit 3 years ago during Xmas inflation. And sold it for 50k when I finally decided to sell everything I owned to get Morrigan body.

Dragon talon price crash happened pretty much overnight, as soon as ppl found out ISNM drops it the price went down by 50%+.

Am I going to complain if Khroma nuggets turn out to be SE solution to inflating Imp wootz ingot? Of course not, cheaper material means more interest in salvage, more salvage runs mean more Alexandrites for ppl to upgrade mythic weapon. Sounds like a perfect way to please every1 in this game.

Thief's knife immediately pops up in my head. I still remember some unfortunate guy traded KC for the knife days before SE released that update.

funfact: it doesn't matter when they tell you, the prices are doing to drop like a fucking rock the second they reveal that supply will be going up

what should they have done, only told people with a thief's knife and made them swear to keep a secret, cross their heart and hope to die? some people are always going to get screwed over, but some people are always going to make out like a fucking bandit.

Who said I am looking for sympathy? I'd hardly call myself complaining or QQ'ing over the matter. If they get cheaper over the course of time which of course they will, as does anything, that is fine. Having something crash on you out of the blue sucks. The guy that mentioned thf knife is the perfect example. People here are so fucking touchy about everything. Like dealing with a bunch of children all day. Christ.

The guy in my salvage group was tossing that very debate. He had been saving gil for his ingots and we got his usu 35 body to drop sunday. He finally decided on "well I saved all this gil for this purpose and 12+ are in stock now" Picked his completed piece a little bit before the servers went down and I dont think he has regreted it.

But yes. Mythic weapons need Drites. Causes more salvage groups. Which causes higher demand on items for upgrades. Something has to be done to counterbalance; if not thats poor planning on the side of SE.

After they announced bonaza, khroma dropped from 300k to 170k, but they went back up the week after. It's true price will crash right after the announcement, but if they say it a long time before, the drop will not be brutal because ppl will still buy.

Salvage gear is not luxury gear like Dusk +1, Cerb Mantle +1, etc. It's gear progression for endgame players. Should you pay a premium over existing gear to get something better? I would say yes. Should you pay 5-20x as much? I would say no unless it's 5-20x better.

There's a bit of self-serving bias in my views, of course. I just got my Macha's coat after being hosed for over a year, and since I'd pretty much given up hope on ever seeing it, I wasn't stockpiling ingots with my gil splits. Given that I work 40-60 hour weeks and can't devote every waking moment to FFXI, it's going to take a while to stockpile ingots at current prices.

Even if the price on Salvage bodies dropped 50-75% overnight, they'd still command a hefty premium over the other alternatives, but be affordable to most mainstream 75 players who put in the effort in Salvage to obtain them. There are many people on BG (me included) who have or can reasonably obtain 3-5m without selling off a ton of gear and do it in a reasonable timeframe.

The number who can do the same with 10-12m is quite a lot smaller because of just how much gil that is now, and if you're going to look me in the eye and tell me that people are less "worthy" because they have work/life balance or just don't have the same resources for gil making (I know plenty of very skilled, very smart, very fun 75 players who are perpetually broke), you should take a look in the mirror and think good and hard about what you see there.

If you don't want to pay a price for things... don't. Do ISNM/mining, the economy doesn't affect those results at all.

When I bought mine, I tried ISNM, and it's not worth the trouble. Sure, it's fun to do occassionaly, but I went 0/5 on mine (2/20 total). I could probably have made more money selling strap.

Mining...if farming ~40k/h is good for you, try it, but it's not a miracle solution either. You will spend 100h in zhayolm to get your 24 ores, and you still need money for the wootz after. 100h of play time running in circle clicking on green dot named "mining point", and sorting your inventory. That's not my definition of "game"

honestly, anyone that pays for a huge ticket item just before a major update deserves what ever happens to them. I thought everyone learned this lesson with the few THF's that bought THF knife before the THF knife update...

besides, all this is mute as it doesnt seem like there is a ingot recipy for these nuggets.

I don't disagree with the point you're trying to make, but I have to disagree with your #s. Without a khroma ore strike, you can still easily walk away from Mount Zhayolm with 75k/hr worth of sellables if you have the crafts levelled to synth/desynth. 100h of playtime = 7.5M gil. I'm sure you can buy 12 wootz ores with that. Putting in 1-3h of mining every so often, and you can reach that mark in 6 months within reason.
