CPU>AV switcher recommendations

Okay so I've been looking around at guides for these for a while, but i figure I should ask BG about what you guys do for this sort of thing.

Basically i want to play my ps3 on my desktop monitor. The 2 ways I know to do it is
A) Getting all the wires(Female to Female, Male to Female adapters, HDMI or component to...something adapter, other stuff <.< etc)
B) Buying a universal switcher for RCA/AV

Anyone here have a recommend set-up that they use for playing(or doing anything really) consoles on their monitor? Or a nice set of instructions to go by?

by the time you look at ones that do it right, you'd have invested in a monitor that has a TV input (or very close)

Does your monitor have HDCP? If so you can get a simple HDMI-DVI adaptor.

If it does not you have to go a bit further, you can either get HDFURY which is like an adaptor which decodes HDCP for you if you have an external sound solution, or buy a component cable and a VGA box. I looked into doing this and it seems the easiest is to buy component cables and a VGA box then run sound through your line in port on your PC, although if you have a surround sound system with an optical-in, feel free to get HDFURY.
