Maybe because he should be nuking in Moldy and an int earring? Cause int totally doesn't help damage and resists. Nope.

Nuking in conserve mp is nuking to fail. The *only* reason to nuke in conserve mp is if you're elvaan, and can't kill a pudding without it because of mp constraints.

To HNM blm, mp is not an issue. MP is never an issue. That's why that earring is fail.

Also, lack of moldy is horrifying. Nuking in zenith is horrifying. Why must you make me hate you, Aella? Why must you hurt me like this. :<

Yea a whole 0.5 MACC (+1 with the over priced +1 Phantom earring), i don't know wtf he was he thinking, seeing as practicly every other slot should take care of the ACC problem, that little to no diffrence 0.5 shouldn't even be an issue (at least i have never had one)

Nuking in conserve mp is nuking to fail. The *only* reason to nuke in conserve mp is if you're elvaan, and can't kill a pudding without it because of mp constraints.
OR you want that trait to kick in a little more often saving you MP since BLM pretty much drinks MP, unless you really want that +1 Magic accuracy again, it's a matter of a "smarter" choice, excluding any Elitism

To HNM blm, mp is not an issue. MP is never an issue. That's why that earring is fail.
Neither is a+1 INT earring, cause even on HNMs using that earring, never had much resist rate problems, unless you are elvaan (i'm hume) as i said, nothing wrong with that earring, if you don't have it then yea, use that untoicable +1 INT. but if MP is never an issue then i don't know why BLMs rest alot or even carry HMP gear. or why i'v seen groups lose fights because they "ran out of mp"

Opinions are opinions, no one has to fully agree with them all, but calling that earring "fail" when it clearly does work is somthing i don't understand. as a BLM you should already have enough INT in all other slots needed (at least i think you do) if you'r still so desparate for 2 more INT then Try Cream Puff which is +7 INT, giving you that 2 more INT over melonPie+1 (if you use food that is) that you would have got off that useless phantom earring, Problem solved. Only thing worth trading it for in that slot is Novio earring, for obvious reasons.

I find it very hard to believe that is all he has for those slots. If he was full timing it, he was probably rushed to Behemoth or KB and you caught with his gear in Mog House.

On something like KB, no, it doesn't particularly matter. But when you get into the realm of JoL and Wyrms, you have to reach that magic 320/150.

That's a point where that 1-2 int DOES matter. Where that earring loses any and all usefulness.

The reason we're nitpicking the earrings is because, well, if he full timed that at KB, along with loq, zenith slacks, etc...what says he doesn't do that in every situation?
Fact of the matter is that he most likely does (unless, as Saith pointed out, he just rushed out for KB).

I don't know if you're blm or not, but you have to realize how conserve mp works on blm. That is, it doesn't.
Conserve mp is a lot better on say, whm, because a whm spams spells.
A blm can cast only a handful of spells before we run out of mp. Conserve mp procs so rarely on blm. You'd have to stack conserve mp on all possible slots to make it even remotely worthwhile, and at that point, you're losing so much damage that it's not even worth it.

Well that IS what i'm trying to explain, i HAVE tested it, but i made up for it in other slots, i have full time nuked JOL with partial resist, even vs other blms, i get resited just like any other BLM, but it was not even as bad, Conserve MP NEVER loses it's usefullness, because there is always a "chance" it will kick in, never said stack it because yes, you lose to much INT, but in slots like that ear, you won't notice any negative effects. it's a "get away with" peice, never said it was the best possible thing. i never was a picky player, i belive in the "if it works, go with it" type thing. as long as it is resonable.

But honestly on Mobs like JOL where you don't normaly have to worry about grabing hate or AOES i sub /sch which adds 1 More INT then RDM sub, so that could also help, but that sub is for brave BLMs only.

I don't understand how people "forget" gear on the way to HNM. Yeah one or 2 pieces is fine, but don't you keep your gear together? Like when you're putting stuff in mog and taking out, everything should be together for that job. How hard is it to move back and forth?

Well, it's just a matter of time right? For jobs that are crucial to claiming, the 2 minutes it takes to move all your gear back and forth could mean the difference between killing and watching.

The RNG is fine really. Only thing I can see thats wrong with him is using STR rings instead of racc rings for TP, unless he isnt having racc issues then I suppose the rings are fine.

If you want to be super nitpicky the whole Flames for Holy Bolts is kinda meh, and Holy Bolts in general w/o a staff on HNMs that are likely to resist, but that may have even been his Slug set that he was slow to change out of. Passable gear for sure.

<3 D:Amentis is right, MP is not an issue, especially not on KB where you won't be nuking a -ton- and you'll have constant refresh anyway... if your ally is set up well. Even then, it still doesn't warrant nuking in zenith pants. That's just horrifying.

And seriously, the guy should have a Moldy. I find it hard to believe he does not have one, which is partially why I can see he just rushed there. But... it was a last window KB, he was there the entire time... He would've had plenty of time to run back. It's not like it's hard to get to BD.

Fuck, I don't know why people think you "have" to get a Phantom +1 or an Abyssal for a +2 INT earring. Morion Earring +1 is 500k, leaps and bounds cheaper than all that morrgian's gear, all you're missing is 5 MP, and again MP matters very very little on BLM. I used to use it before Novio.
OR you want that trait to kick in a little more often saving you MP since BLM pretty much drinks MP, unless you really want that +1 Magic accuracy again, it's a matter of a "smarter" choice, excluding any Elitism
It's not really about elitism. If he at least had other +INT spots, and he had a magnetic earring, I really wouldn't point it out. But the fact that he was using all of that combined, and most of the other slots were worth MILLIONS in gil, I had to.

but if MP is never an issue then i don't know why BLMs rest alot or even carry HMP gear. or why i'v seen groups lose fights because they "ran out of mp"
You're comparing apples and oranges, and being just a little too literal. MP matters very little to BLMs in the world of HNM. We only need to have enough to cast, and there should be no concern about how fast we're going through it, unless we're going through it TOO fast. hMP, on the other hand, does matter. It gives us that MP back that we need to have to cast those spells, and it gives it back faster. The main priority however should ALWAYS be to maximize damage output to MP ratio, and the slight amount of Conserve MP+ on a Magnetic earring is not worth the loss of +2, or even +1 INT over time.

That's the thing. Normally, if the person had other good INT+ in their gear slots, I would not nitpick at a Magnetic earring. See... they're wearing Hierarch Belt, Balrahn's Ring, Zenith slacks, Loq, and Magnetic. Comparing it to "good" gear, they're missing +20 INT and +5 MAB. This is a large chunk of damage and M.Acc gone.

And the reason I highlighted the Magnetic was to point out what type of earring it was, as most would lean towards Abyssal immediately.

Oh, I was more or so picking on the m.acc ring. Snow ring/sorc or snow/snow is fine.

QFT. Even wearing zenith slacks outside of triggering sorcerer's ring is horrifying.

And seriously, the guy should have a Moldy. I find it hard to believe he does not have one, which is partially why I can see he just rushed there. But... it was a last window KB, he was there the entire time... He would've had plenty of time to run back. It's not like it's hard to get to BD.
I didn't get Moldy until level 72... I had terrible luck with that NM. Most would not believe it, but I went 1/33. I managed without, but when I had it I regretted getting it at the level I got it at.

Yeah, Morion +1 is acceptable. People are just nitpicking if it's not a Phantom +1 or Abyssal. That being said, I do own a Phantom +1... and a Abyssal (use them for my 150 INT setup, and for my CoP wyrm setup; Abyssal is obviously used for Dark Magic also), and I'm a Novio BLM that plans to get Static Earring.

I'm actually proud to say I won't be getting Magnetic (but if I did it sure wouldn't be for BLM).

It's not really about elitism. If he at least had other +INT spots, and he had a magnetic earring, I really wouldn't point it out. But the fact that he was using all of that combined, and most of the other slots were worth MILLIONS in gil, I had to.
Yeah, that pic made me sad in the pants.

I can understand people's reasons for using a Magnetic. I won't nitpick them or get on their case, but it doesn't mean I agree with it. Conserve MP does not shine very well on BLM just due to sheer MP costs. And INT is noticable with everything you cast (shockingly enough, as it increases m.acc AND damage), whereas Conserve MP isn't noticable on every spell (saying so is retarded; it'd have to proc on every spell), sorry. You can have Conserve MP proc without using any Conserve MP gear, and you can have it not proc when you're using the gear. It's random, period. The trait has a 25% chance of taking place, Magnetic makes it 30%; doesn't save more MP when it procs, just increases chances. 30% of the time, you can conserve MP for an unpredictable amount. You don't know how much it'll 'conserve' when it procs, but one will have a general idea, as it cuts MP cost based on certain percentages.

If a Novio BLM used a Magnetic and had a Moldavite though............... that's different, I'd be nitpicking them to the core.

You're comparing apples and oranges, and being just a little too literal. MP matters very little to BLMs in the world of HNM. We only need to have enough to cast, and there should be no concern about how fast we're going through it, unless we're going through it TOO fast. hMP, on the other hand, does matter. Couldn't agree more.

Right-o. That Morrigan's Robe is sad. 2 INT *is*, in a sense, minimal, but like I said it's noticable on everything, as it works all the time. Conserve MP, however, does not.

To those justifying Conserve MP on BLM, think for a minute: How many BLMs use Sorcerer's Sabots over Yigit Crackows? Very few, *if any*. Even before I got Yigit Crackows (was a Rostrum Pumps user), I only wore Sorcerer's Sabots when I wanted to show that I had AF2 gear (aka: in town). I would've used +1 if I had it over Rostrum Pumps for nukes (back then it was either Rostrum or Yigit for the most part). If you want to see the wonders that Conserve MP is, use it on another job (ie: WHM), not a job that has very high MP costs. I've noticed Conserve MP far more on WHM than I ever have leveling BLM, or using it in any event at end-game. Why? Because the normal WHM spells cost far less MP than BLM's normal spells.

Not giving up damage at all (protip: Using magnetic over INT+ earrings gives up some, yet minimal, but there, damage), and having a chance at conserve MP taking place more is something I would justify. But I'm a BLM that cares more about getting overall better results with nukes while controlling my hate line (ie: before I had Sorcerer's Petasos, I used Wizard's Petasos +1 over Demon Helm +1; I preferred having more enmity- without giving up much damage in certain situations), not how much MP I conserve. If I wanted to do that, I'd be leveling Scholar, which does it far better than Black Mage would ever be capable of.

/end wall of text. Couldn't resist posting; back to lurking.
