Lag... sort of.

Posted this on Windower forums yesterday and got no responses, going to copypaste what I had there.

I don't know if this has been going on for a long time or not, but I think I would have noticed it if it has. Since [at least] today, I've seen that I've been getting a small bit of lag roughly every 4 seconds. I would compare it to the hangup that used to happen when you took a screenshot with windower before 3.4, it's just a short pause and then everything continues. I've tried several things to diagnose it, like logging into FFXI without windower, turning off all other processes, and even checking other games to see if they have the same issue. It's only FFXI, and it stays consistent.

I really don't know what steps to take next, can anyone help?


Edit: It's more of a 'physical' lag than it is connection lag, if that helps describe it any.

I had this issue and I resolved it by going to the network properties of my wireless card, tcpip settings and turned of QoS Packet Scheduler. It's worked for a lot of people but not for others. Give it a shot though :D

This was my thread on it from when I was having the issue, I think there might be a few other suggestions in there. I found some other people having the issue by searching stutter+ffxi on google... I'm 99% sure it has something to do with internet connection properties though. Are you on wireless?

Went and disabled some USB stuff, it seems to have stopped.

That makes some sense, since my network card is USB, but the packet scheduler thing resolves for some, it's some weird Vista 32 bit + wireless + usb hardware bug... glad its working

What kind of video card just curious. Nvidia?
