Lucifer is coming. Whether we saw him or not wouldn't change anything.

Next season will pretty much just be them trying to put him back down. The ex-angel mod squad of Anna and Cast will be running around helping as well.

I know Kripke has something against female characters, but if they don't bring Anna back as a main character in season 5, I will be furious. She was way too interesting and awesome a character for them to create, provide just enough appearances to foreshadow a large incoming plot with her, and then just take away.

didn't azazel die at the end of S2 before Ruby even showed up?

Yes, Azazel died when Dean shot him with the Colt after hell!John wrestled the Demon out of his meatsuit long enough to distract him, that was in S2E22, All Hell Breaks Loose: Part 2. Considering Ruby mentioned being alive (as a human) in the Dark Ages, I think it's safe to say she's been around a while, and in the show's mythos, she and Azazel could have easily met/been in league with each other.. Kripke did a good job of tying it all together in Lucifer Rising.

Plus they love symmetry so much in this show.. I loved that the priest's name was "Father Lehne" (the actor that played Azazel the most, is Fredric Lehne). Also, the first episode of season 4 was "Lazarus Rising" and the finale was "Lucifer Rising". So it wouldn't surprise me if some people's speculation is somewhat accurate in thinking Dean may go angel-style next year in a smackdown with Lucifer, maybe possessed by an archangel or something (maybe Michael, since he was the original one to defeat Lucifer).

my point was in reference to her making the colt bullets that killed azazel, was shhe involved in the original Colt being amde and I missed that somewhere?

The original Colt, was made by a man baring the same namesake in the 1800's and was passed down through the generations of hunters. After John traded the Colt to Azazel in order to save Dean from dying (season 2 ep 1) the gun was lost for most of the season. When the Winchesters got it back it no longer functioned as it used to, and Ruby helped them rebuild it so that it would once again be more than just a gun. So no, the original one she wasn't involved with making (unless this is a hidden plot to be exploited next season but I doubt it.)

Memory may be a little off on this post, haven't watched season 2 again since Christmas but I believe it's mostly accurate.

OK I got my timeline all messed up and thought ruby showing up and fixing the gun was in season 3 after azazel died

Colt's history in a nutshell:

Made in 1800s by Samuel Colt (when Hailey's Comet was overhead) > some hunters > Daniel Elkins (hunter in Colorado) > vampires after they killed Elkins > Sam/Dean/John after killing the head vampire > John > Azazel (for Dean's life "In My Time of Dying") > Jake (one of the special kids, stabbed Sam in the back/killed Sam in "All Hell Breaks Loose: Part 1") > Dean (killed Azazel) > Sam/Dean (Colt now gimp because it has no bullets left) > Ruby/Bobby repair it > Sam (kills hot bartender and priest in "Sin City") > and so on.

Ruby showed up in Season 3, and helped Bobby fix the Colt while the boys were off hunting (they had fired the last bullets that originally were made/came with the gun). Why would she do that? She did it to gain the trust of Sam & Dean, and to push Sam closer to what Azazel's endgame was - releasing Lucifer.

[Edit: Oh yeah, Dean took it from Elkins when he went back to the 70s via Castiel in Season 4, and he told him he could find it with a family of hunters in Kansas, the Campbells (his mom's family), and we assume Elkins got it back from Mary, Dean's mom.]

Right. The Colt wasn't broken though - it was just out of the specific "kill anything" bullets that were made for it, rendering it useless as far as demon-killing. Bobby mentioned that it wasn't good for anything other than "seeing what makes it tick" (on-screen they show the pretty much disassembled Colt with Bobby holding the grip, recoil shield and cylinder arbor), which I guess is really what Ruby did, so they could make new ammo for it that again would "kill anything."

Fun fact: it's modeled after a Colt Paterson, a gun with no trigger guard.

[Edit: Forgot to add, now we don't know what happened to it. Bela stole it near the end of season 3, and the boys never found it. The inscription on it is "non timebo mala" or "I will fear no evil."]

John back would be cool, but JDM seems to keep pretty busy between TV/movies. I'd love to see Bela again (Ash/Jo/Ellen too!), I think I was in the minority since most people seemed to despise Bela. I liked her character and the actress too.

Heh. I wasn't watching that far back. My point in that post was just reaffirming anything and everything that Ruby has done throughout the show was to set the field for what happened in the finale.
