The end result was "nothing changed" in terms of overall effect of everything. So nothing between the events Dean visited and before he fell asleep changed. But now Dean knows that his mother came from a hunter family and that Sam is in danger from the yellow-eyed demons blood.

The only thing I'd like to know is the "original" version of this story. Because Mary + fam meeting yellow eyes was all because of Dean.

Good episode though, can't wait for more of this show.

the back to the future references were pretty funny. "Angels have a fleet of DeLoreans?" (I'm paraphrasing), the only one that would have been funnier is if Dean introduced himself as Dean McFly.

And yeah, it seems like not much changed, other than the YED became aware of Mary sooner, the deal would have been made regardless of Dean's intervention or not.

This was actually the first episode I saw, and I thought it was pretty good. I didn't care that I didn't know anything that was going on. I might have to get on watching the whole series.

This was probably one of the worst episodes to watch just coming into the program. If you liked it though you should love the series.

Please stop referencing Charmed. Supernatural is about 1,000,000,000,000 times better than that show ever could have been. Just waking up mornings and flipping through the channels and seeing Charmed on TNT I figured cute chicks on tv in the morning can't be a bad thing, I was wrong... very wrong.

Supernatural is a great show perhaps the best show on tv no one watches. It's flown under the radar for too long. Season one was pretty good, but from season 2 on it has been truly great. I love the mix of creep/intense to lighthearted episodes.

The first 3 seasons of Charmed wasn't completely terrible. But they made the show far more soapy than action, I guess attempting to appeal to female viewers. The reason I've referenced it is because the first 3 seasons were enjoyable from a paranormal-plot perspective but in season 4 I think they killed the Source of All Evil and things went to shit real quick and it wasn't even partially enjoyable. Supernatural has a far better cast and well...far better everything except I'm more attracted to the Charmed cast, so it won't ever be as lame as Charmed but if they killed the Devil or something of the sort it'd be hard for it to continue to be as good as it has been.

But 5 seasons is a good length and I hope they stick with that length and just make a brand new show up instead of extending it.

And yeah last night was a pretty poor episode, mostly enjoyable to those who have seen the rest format and content-wise. So if you liked it you need to go watch it from the beginning. It'll be time well spent.

im pretty sure you cant kill the devil or even god for that fact, or it probably would have been done by previous hunters, as far as i know from what they say is they can only "lock" him away with the 66 seals,

It does seem like they are escalating things as seasons go on, but that isn't necessarily a bad thing. I like how they are trying to tie in the yellow eyed demon and Sam's story arc into something, instead of letting it fizzle out.

If that means there are only 4-5 seasons, it's still a good series Shows need to end sometime...

Yeah, the story is being told much more like anime/manga with their whole story already being known by the writers. Makes for much better storytelling, I'm happy to see it. So many TV shows only have ideas for a couple seasons and then just seem to make up stuff from there. Sometimes it works (House imo) sometimes it's just /doze. For instance...Heroes season 2 didn't really know where to go after season 1 did so well. I think their original plan was to do a new cast each Heroes season so they had no storyline already planned for season 2+.

yea, i was surprised when they revealed that sams mom was a hunter, but yet they hinted at it 2seasons prior, i wonder how far they have character development. it makes you wonder if they knew there was going to be 4-5 seasons when they just started

edit: i think its more of they have the characters already developed, they just implement them, so they can be flexible with the story,

Don't know if it is or not. I think it was mostly used to make Dean want to live. I doubt it'll actually come up again, but I guess it might.
