Isn't Ree's Headgear from the SHNM, not the campaign ops? Since the other two helms are also level 71 and are both from the SHNMs. <_<;

Ree's Headgear is from the SCNM, you are correct.
Yeah, and Alla seems to agree with FFXI AH. Majority + wiki.retard.factor = probably only Rare, not Ex. Still, we don't know which of the three drops come from here. The Sandy BCNM mixed one mage item with one melee item, so I could see that being done here too and having Airy Buckler or Cuchulain's Belt.
If Cuchulain's Belt is here, Bastok ends up with Crapaud Earring and Airy Buckler (Which is admittedly good the very few times that THFs or DNCs are not subbing NIN). Bastokans would rightly be pissed about that.
Well my group is planning on switching from Sandy to Windy to do this Ops on tues, so if last drop isn't confirmed by then hopefully we can shed some light on the situation.
So does everyone need the campaign op? I don't remember if that was the case or not.
Beating the op gave me a weird message. He said "Not all operations can unfold as they are originally planned".. I don't get it. D: Is that the normal message or something?
that's the normal message, and yeah: you get no exp/AN for these BC battles~
the treasure chest loot is all you get
I know someone listed a pretty good job combo to go to this BC above, but I thought I'd add my groups:
pld pld(preferably both with atonement) rdm brd, 2 DDs with spike damage (blm blu or sam have done the best for us) usually go with the blm + sam combo
Elegy helps a ton, having two plds makes the odds of 1 pld droping diminish, atonement wrecks this guy pretty good too. BLM/WHM is great for killing the adds, dotting/nuking the boss and extra erase for tornado(something) the Max HP/MP/TP down.
keep Howl and Arm Block dispeled is another tip I think some groups don't get.
That is the normal completion message for Splitting Heirs, and I presume the other two which also give loot. No AN reward.
Our group is Blm Drg Blu Pld Rdm and Brd, haven't lost yet and we've had to do it with 5 before.
Ya the trick to this BCNM is taking out the pets asap and hate control on the NM. We never had issues with the PLD engaging the NM, but there were hate control issues (GOGO DRG!) so pet classes work well. THF can also work, but I don't recommend giving the NM too much TP since those can be tough to deal with.
Third drop off of Plucking Wings confirmed to be Cuchulain's Belt.
Well, then, pending confirmation of the last two pieces, this is likely PW's lootpool. The GKT and Staff look pretty, but aren't really that worthwhile that I can see. Shenlong's look better than Destroyers. I wouldn't be that shocked to find that PW can drop Oracle's and Aurum stuff as well. Shit, I wouldn't be blown away to find he has a slot for the rest of the Hachiryu set. After all the work that goes into making a PW popset, this guy had better throw amazing drops at people.
refresh boots? Anyone selling earrings?
For Splitting Heirs, I spent the whole week refining my strat, and ended up with 12/13 wins.
The very best success we had was with this setup:
2x PLD/NIN
1 SCH/RDM
1 RDM/WHM
2 generic DDs (we cycled through SAM, WAR, BLU, and MNK - all worked just fine).
RDM was main heal, SCH was backup heal and Accession buffer. Phalanxga and Stoneskinga did absolute wonders, as well as Erasega. Occasionally Enthunderga picked up the pace of the kill, with it getting down to 10 minutes, 12 seconds with no trouble or close calls.
As with everyone else, one of the PLDs ran in, Flashed the boss, and pulled all the way to the door. We tried several variations for taking out the helpers, but honestly no particular order did better than any other. A nice Gekko takes off in excess of 70% of their HP anyway, so they were toast within minutes. The first one to arrive at the gate is always the first one to die. The other two helpers always lag behind, so usually SCH slept the mage and RDM slept the other. The mage also was easily silenced, but it didn't last very long.
The main issue people have with this fight from what I've seen is that they try theatrics and big hits, screwing up hate control. Pace yourself and you'll be fine, just chip at him till he falls. Also, that pesky Counterstance is no picnic. While this CAN be done, of course, with only one PLD/NIN, that did result in a couple of close calls. With the dual tanks, it was a total cake walk.
Addendum: Our total haul: 7 Mantles, 2 Witch Sash, 2 Wise Strap, like 11 Brave Grips, and various junk.
God damn it; will take a miracle to get a Balestarius unless they ninja Imp. Wootz Ingots into the Cracking Shells pool.Laaaaaawl. Enjoy your earring and shield Bastok-ers! There is no justice, Q Q, etc!
