I think we plan on doing them all eventually, just Bastok first because, if you haven't noticed, most of the hardcore campaign people (hardcore in the sense of planning, organization and time-commitment, not # of people) on our server (JP and NA) are Bastok. We were the only ones to take back a zone to stop city battles before last patch, and we're the only ones making a serious effort now to unlock the Ops.
Anyone have advice on Cracking Shells? Is it the same idea as Splitting Heirs? Can NIN or PLD work?
You mean me personally? That's definitely not true because Fival has worked on it easily twice as hard as I did, and did more than me in the "save Markets from battles" era, too. Also, most of the JP contingent that showed up late Saturday night and the attempt a few weeks earlier are the same ones who stayed up religiously for days basically working in shifts in Grauberg then Pashhow then Rolanberry back before the last update, too.
Anyway, we were just talking about it earlier today, and I guess the plan is in two weeks (assuming we successfully recover the non-Stronghold zones this week and spam Cracking Shells next week, which shouldn't be a problem), to work on Plucking Wings, and then after that getting to work on Splitting Heirs, although if Sandy is close then like they are this week might do that first. Like I said above, I kinda defer to Fival for what he wants to do since he's the most dedicated to it.
Edit: That reminds me of something I was wondering, if you have 7 Ops credits saved up and you transfer allegiance, do they get wiped? Also @Lyramion I'm not sure if you were being serious or joking, but it's just for the fun of it, there are more profitable things we could do with the amount of time and effort it takes to take over the zones as it stands![]()
No they don't wipe.
Did 3 runs tonight with LS mates.
3/3 for wins: 2 Mantles, 1 Sash
For profit/time I was including the 12-18 hours a week over 3 weeks (if you're successful the first time, more if you're not) that it takes to actually access the Ops in the first place.![]()
I'll join you if you guys doing La Vaule invasion Sui
W/e...take down the zones 1 by 1 and make the server transfers cry![]()
According to some people on my server, Cracking Shells is relatively more difficult than Splitting Heirs. The main enemy is a RNG who can do a powerful 1100+ conal ore lob. Since it's a Ranger, it doesn't move much in the already small room. Meaning you can't really avoid dealing with the adds. Apparently what they did was tank with a NIN/DRK for more stun and easier hate control since it can use a hate reset move. Then keep the adds asleep, if they build up immunity too much kill that one off. If I understand right that's some general info.
Oh and don't forget getting to the BC requires someone bringing a Quadav Charm from the present to open a door.
Sounds Manaburnable
has anyone tried this today, so far seems like SE might have nerfed so orcs come regardless of distance... cause they cam back three times causing us to wipe stupid Sleepga II D, so wondering if it acting normal for others or we had bad luck, and second time again came and overwhelmed since we lacked blm and rdm on /drk, so did it work right for anyone else today or need to change strat orz?
Edit: did again and saw two group get kicked out both said same thing happened so just warning to anyone you're gonna need a sleeper, we tried kill adds every time got main to 20% but just random out of mp from extra dmg on tanks, so gogo fucking SE's bs ninja nerfing shit, expect sash and mantle prices to rise .
I have yet to do Splitting Heirs, but in Cracking Shells you couldn't ever separate them. We just kept them slept until the main NM was about 40-50% (or after 3-4 sleeps if things were going slow), killed them all, reslept the repops and finished the NM. Maybe try something like that for Splitting Heirs.
Did today with blm/rdm drg/nin sam/nin pld/nin whm/sch rdm/blm managed to win somehow by sleeping adds a lot and switchs area a lot so adds weren't on top of pld while beating the crap out of it, so do able but much more annoying really than before.
tried the super tanking method. pld got def pretty high + phalanxII, the underlings were hitting 10-40, Darkheir hitting up to 150.
pretty much had to sleep/silence the blm.
Curing the pld still pulled hate, mnk and pld orc were hitting the mages, even though the mages didn't take action on them, nor resting when the pld & mnk ran by.
blm & rdm said their nukes were doing more dmg, and thf was doing more dmg too.
Having done all 3 Ops now, I would say that Splitting Heirs is probably the most difficult (post-patch with not being able to separate the adds, anyway), than Cracking Shells, and with Plucking Wings being the easiest of the three.
Cracking Shells boss is very evasive, and his adds seem a bit more resistance to sleep overall than the others. There's also his random Ore Lob tossed mixed in with his regular Tosses that catch you off guard, but aside from that it's pretty straightforward.
Splitting Heirs, he seems to have considerably more HP or DEF than the others, causing the fight to go on much longer, and that means more chances something goes wrong and you get into trouble. The adds aren't that bad at first, but they do start resisting sleep, too, after a while, and they have linked hate to the main NM which the others didn't seem to have. They either periodically inherit the enmity values of the main NM or periodically assist him, and they like to wipe shadows or interrupt the casting (as if the NM's 80% Zanshin or DA rate wasn't bad enough) so he can sneak in a Shoulder Charge or Tornado Edge when shadows are down. Fun stuff.
Plucking Wings is pretty easy, comparitively, we didn't even bring a tank to any runs, just one or two people to stun his spells. Lots of space to hold the adds away from everyone, and he goes down pretty fast. Just a pain in the ass to get to the BC.
Spent one credit tonight trying a manaburn setup on Heirs, BLM BLM BLM RDM, kited around the hut and just burned him down. Was pretty fun, too.
How exactly do manaburn Heirs? I've always done it with a normal party, and since the changes I'd want to make it easier :d
