Well, we had been doing a standard setup with tank, 2x dd, brd rdm whm, and kiting around the house when the adds needed to be killed to reset sleep resistance or if something went wrong. At some point while kiting it I realized "hey, I could just do this on BLM" so we went out and tried it BLM/NINx3 + RDM/BLM. RDM focused on keeping the adds slept, and we just traded hate kiting around that house.

About halfway through one BLM died, and the summons were starting to resist sleep, so the RDM grav'd the main NM and one BLM held it while myself and the weakened BLM killed the spawns and then rested up. We only had two other problems, the RDM died because he was in the cone of Tornado Edge after a convert or something, and then died again a bit later for the same reason with weakened HP. Then at the end we ate a firaga from the BLM Orc.

The whole thing took 19 minutes, but it was our first attempt at manaburn and one person had never done the BC before at all, I imagine it'd probably take 12-15 min or less with experience when everything goes smoothly. If you are uneasy about it, just do it with a full pt of 6 (5 blm and rdm or something) and that will be more than enough to get the hang of it while accounting for any problems that might come up on your first try.

Edit: Did it again, this time with an additional BLM. 7min fight lol

I went with a group tonight and wiped 4 times. We had PLD/NIN, SAM, BLU, BLM, SCH, and RDM. We either kept spending too much time killing the babies and weren't damaging the boss at all or we'd lose control of the babies while working down the boss.

I can't believe how much harder this shit seems after they changed the way the babies repop and reaggro.

Short of manaburning this, WTF can we do to make this managable?

    1. if doing PLD way:

2x PLD/NIN to fight darkhier at enterance. BRD and whm to support the PLD.
1x SAM to fight darkhier too, but will focus on pet when they become unsleepable
1x rdm/blm to focus sleeping the pets, in the scenario when PET run out of rdm's "arena" (which is the open area) the he will notify the sam, and the sam will kill the pet fast.

for this strategy, you need a good rdm with GOOD enfeeble skill. decent enfeebling skill do not work well on these pets as they are extremely resistant to sleep.

so basically, brd sing march + ballad on PLD and PLD goes atonement. it is good to have a ABOVE AVERAGE BARD to stick elegy on darkhier (even my wife's decent wind + singing skill and chr, 240 wind + 242 singing + 44 chr is only able to stick elegy on the darkhier 1/5 times but thats enough, as long theres elegy). SAM alone can take care of 1 pet at a time. if your RDM cannot even handle/sleep 2 pets throughout the fight, then you will prolly fail. a good RDM is important. The fight will prolly last 15-20 mins.

    2. if doing mana burn way:
4x BLM/RDM and have seal grav order
2x rdm/blm 1 to stay in "arena" to sleep pets, while the other run with blms to refresh, cure and sleep when a pet get out of the "arena"
this way, the fight will prolly end when all your 4 BLM emptied their manapool, and before pets build full resist to sleep. if by that time darkhier still dont die, you may wana use 1-2 manafonts. This will take about 6-7 mins.

i personally win 8/9 fight with PLD way, all of them are /shouts, and 1 fail due to a sucky RDM that is unable to sleep shits AND a sucky bard that does not have enough wind/singing/chr setup......the bard is basically full-timing vermi cloak...and with darkhier speed w/o elegy, your PLD may have a hard time

as for BLM way, i have yet to fail any (about 10/10). did with friendlist

We use the following for 7-9min kills, its rather easy mode. Mind you we do have 2 relics, so your results may be skewed if you try it this way without them.

    PLD/war (Aegis)
    DRG/nin
    DRG/nin
    DRK/nin
    WHM/xxx
    BRD/whm (GHorn)

Pull it to the entrance tunnel, DDs kill adds off, and then go back to NM, as new adds come in, DDs just target them and kill them while they are on the PLD. BLM Add gets Slept by the BRD as it gets close, and DDs can move to kill it.

DRG/nin is nice for Angon + High Jump/Super Jump for no hate issues. DRK is nice to stun the BLM incoming when it -ga etc if the BRD and/or WHM is busy in songs or cures.

We had one run where one of the DRGs forgot to get his tag, and did it fine with 5, was a little more stressful, but not terrible.

How would SCH do instead of BLM in the manaburn set up?

The group I went with had a SCH instead of BLM and he did fine. The SCH weather buffs were actually pretty fucking great for BLM. We did it with 3 BLM, 1 SCH, and a RDM and tore shit up in like 3 minutes.

Had a first attempt, didn't go awesomely. I have a few questions:

Is a co-tank really recommended? Shoulder Tackle hit our PLD for 1200 at one point, that was that.

Adds: They sleep for about 2 casts of spells, before outright resisting right? We were surprised at how quick they respawned, so killing them constantly seemed unrealistic.

Any advice. Our build was: BRD, RDM, DRK, SAM, SAM, PLD (one of the sams can go PLD if need be, other SAM can go BLM).

I would suggest a backline of either BRD, RDM/BLM, WHM (or SCH), or BRD, RDM/WHM, BLM. That won't help your PLD not die to Shoulder Charge, though. Did he have the DEF down effect on, or the max HP down, or is he just poorly equipped? If the answer to all three is "no" then I'd just chalk it up to bad luck. Remember that even if your tank goes down it's not game-over, you can kite it around the hut for a bit while you recover.

Also, there's no fixed # of sleeps until they resist, but I would suggest killing them to reset resistance when the main NM is 40-50% if it's taking you a while. Again, with the hut, your tank can easily kite the NM around it while the others quickly kill off the adds.

group i went with were 4/4 with blu/war kiting around the house, rdm sleeping adds, gravity, and refreshing everyone, 2 blm's for nuking darkheir, a scholar for more nukes and erases, and a corsair/whm for erases, sleeps and freshing blm's and scholar.

blu/war would voke at start and rdm would sleepga the adds. the blu/war would wear hp gear, terras, jelly ring, and enmity gear, eat tavnazian taco and keep cocoon and defender up the whole time. diffusion exuviation after first lap of house and make sure to hit all the mages that are standing in the open field circle in front of the house, and just kite around the house letting the blm's nuke. usually darkheir stops when you run around the back and the blu would just cannonball him in the face for about 400 dmg or so every lap and just voke when timer was ready as well as warcry. once the blu got it down, he would not lose hate the entire fight and would finish around 12 minutes.

No unusual hate issues last week we had on Bahamut. The only thing I can think of that is "new" is that the baby Orcs will run straight to whoever has hate on Darkheir. That has been happening for a while, though.

BLM BLM BLM BLM RDM BRD? Pretty easy this way. Time nuke the boss at the beginning, have BRD Horde when the adds pop, RDM applies ES+Gravity on boss then takes to add controlling the adds while the BLMs run the boss around the house nuking when they don't have hate. You have to kill it fairly fast as after the third or fourth sleep, the adds start to resist. Have to be have decent RDM and BRD to keep the adds under control for this.

Also is RDM RDM PLD PLD BLM BRD strategy; one RDM and one BLM control the adds at the BCNM, while one PLD pulls the main guy back. Two PLDs co-tank/DD w/ Atonement with BRD + RDM support. Easy, but longer than the manaburn in my experience. Once again, adds resist after around 3rd sleep I've found, so BLM + RDM should kill em after that and get ready to hold the repops.

We've done SCH BLM BLM BLM BLM RDM. A Better strat than time nuking + sleeping adds is to start off with Aga III and have the RDM run in midway so that the BLMs kill the pets + DMG the NM in one hit. From there you can ES + Gravity and nuke the NM down. When the adds repop, the RDM can sleep them (Shouldn't take more than two sleeps before you kill the NM).

Posted this in the other thread to, so putting it here since I think it'll prove helpful.

    Just bring the following setup:

    PLD/NIN
    PLD/NIN
    BRD/WHM
    RDM/WHM
    BLM
    DD

And make sure the DD is capable of soloing the adds. When they come, have the BLM sleepga, and then have the DD finish them off one at a time.

DRG/SAM is great for this because they can give light damage to the NM and Super Jump any hate that they might accumulate. Atonement spam will kill the NM in 12-14 minutes with this set with minimal nuking from the BLM.

There's really a million ways to do it, virtually any setup that you thought out works. We do pld/nin, whm, brd, rdm, 2xDD. Could do it riskier this way with 5 even.

He's also zergable (we did it with rdm/drk, brd/whm, sam, sam, KC drk once when we only had 5).

What's the reasoning behind bringing 2x PLD/NIN? Seems like a waste..

A waste of what? Successful BC run?

The NM does have the capabilities to mow down a PLD if you make the slightest of errors at a bad time. 2 PLDs is for safety. A security net to fall back on.
