    Xbox Live lag

couldn't get too much help searching through the google, so I figured I'd give it a shot and ask here.

I've been having seemingly random lag on my 360 when playing Halo 3, no matter if I'm connecting to my friend or playing on open games. Not just a little bit of lag where people jump around, its damn near instant: everything stops, I die, and stay dead.

In private games, we both see each other jump around a LOT, and usually have 20 second dead times when waiting to respawn...

I know my connection is fine, 0% packet loss from random pings. Wish I knew the XBL server IPs to ping them and see... but the rest of my net connection is perfectly fine. I'm never d/ling torrents or files when I'm playing, but getting really pissed at this situation.

NAT is listed as Open in the test connection screen, so shouldn't have any problems with that.

    Any ideas?

It might be Xbox Live maintenance causing your problems (Happened while they were implementing new CoD4 playlists for testing), since they're gearing up for the dashboard update, there might be lag spikes while they're implementing stuff on the servers. What also might be happening would be something in your router, even though your tracert and ping requests go out fine, certain settings can make it so your router doesn't play nice.

Same thing happens with Halo 3 quite often, you'll get lag spiked and you won't respawn due to some of the coding with the game. I would suggest the standard power cycle of router and cable modem. Also, try turning off UPnP, as well as disabling any gaming modes you might have on the router. Also, if you're using a linksys WRT54G, good luck, cause its just your router fuckin with you. Also, another one could be that the ethernet port is dying on your box which could cause the problem as well.

Only other suggestion that I can make is to call your ISP and see if there has been any maintenance going on in your area, that or just ride it out or stop playing H3.
