At least he despawns after 3 minutes![]()
i would be interested in seeing other kinds of damage. gekko/slugwinder, whatever...
god this makes me emo.
look like its back to camping a velo belt =_=
I don't suppose we can have the same cooperation between LS's to take him down "legit" as we did with all the kclub zergs now can we? The fight itself isn't very long anymore, if you wipe it isn't the end of the world, you guys are acting like it's still an 18 hour fight. >.>
its a slap in the face. its like they teased us for 8 days about getting the best drops in the game and than take it away, laughing and making us resort to looking at their stupid videos of zooming into text lol.
I would like to see more evidence though. ANYTHING at this point. Souleater probably sucks. but maybe he might be more squishy than he was before as far as his natural DEF goes.
Bagel pretty much nailed it. As has been said many times, SE is obsessed with us figuring out their super duper ultra tip top mega secret nudge nudge wink wink say no more method of killing AV which they give no quest/npc dialogue/hints whatsoever. Simply put SE wants us to pull a rabbit out of a hat but is unwilling to provide us with the hat.
One step forward, two steps back.
At this point for me it isn't about beating AV, it's about principle. The day when SE breaks down and admits they were wrong all this time and gives us a straight answer to beating AV, will be a happy day for me. I will laugh at how pathetic they are.
No, some lasted multiple hours, AV was intended as an 18 hour fight, just like Pandemonium Warden. Sundi mentioned AV was meant as a 10-18 hour fight same as Pandemonium Warden. It depends on the abilities he chooses to use (benediction spam anyone?) This was actually discovered before we even knew anything about PW so he's the "original 18hour HNM" if anything.
Depends on which version of AV you're talking about. Wall-of-justice trick: Definitely longer than 10 minutes, not as long as 18 hours. Freeze-at-npc trick: similar timing. Lock by killing wynavs trick: Took the first shells to figure it out over 10 hours to get this one to work, IIRC.
Now...well, at least nobody will be fighting it longer than two hours. Unfortunately he's still the same 'fuck you eat meteor, fuck you eat chainspell, fuck you eat mass charm, fuck you benediction' mob who gives zero information about his weaknesses. So I'm guessing you get maybe 5-10 minutes per attempt before his damage output destroys your alliance, for two hours minus what it took to kill JoL. Giving your LS maybe 8-10 shots at him per attempt, depending on how long it takes your group to change jobs and accept raises.
I meant straight tanking it. No holding or wall trick whatever.
I' quit a long ass time ago, but kept up with this since AV was the bane of my old LS. I must say, SE shits on it's consumers more than any other company I've ever seen. I don't know who runs their consumer relations department, but they should be canned after that call. What's the justification? They want people to try to beat a gimmick mob that was released years ago and yet to be figured out? It'll be god damned shameful of the company if they don't release the "trick" after this nerf/buff/whatever...throw your playerbase a fucking bone.
I'm interested if using multipul dmg types would change the way AV operates. To do this I'm refering to those pudding that use spike effect to gain damage resistance. Perhaps sending in one party at a time and towards the end having a Rdm CS nuke element of the day, or use elemant of the day while Melee are engauge. I do know he was not immune to melee at first, nor a certain weapon type as Dagger, Sword, Club, Scythe were all being used during my attempt. This is what my initial assessment looks like if Melee only is uesd:

Indeed. I think it's quite justified so long as they provide us with a proper means of killing it. If they had done so from the start none of this would be a problem and I think just about everyone would be happy. But as I said, they must think it's ridiculously simple and that we're just a bunch of morons. Or at least that's what they'd like to believe.![]()
The real problem is that they should have thought of this ahead of time. It's not that it is back to what it was, because I think we are going to figure it out soon enough, it was the dick tease that really is the killer.
We just need someone to kill them selves over this and we can have a press storm and kill him again!
I'm sure they did think of it. However, SE doesn't actually test any of the shit they release or change, you should all know this by now. So while on paper it seemed to them like this nerf was perfectly balanced there was actually a rather obvious way to exploit it.
Square Enix leaves all the tedious beta testing to the players in what they call a "version update" and then you know the multiple maintenance's after that? Yeah. That's the version update.
I was having doubts as to if SE would actually make an emergency update for something that doesn't actually involve a real glitch (KC DRK is cheesy, but not a glitch). I'm really glad others pushed for as many AV kills as possible the last 4 days on Odin because I personally wouldn't have had such urgency.
Do I dare mention Pandemonium Warden now?
