fanfest does seem about the right time for a new expansion annoucement. far east or bust dammit, gair wants more cool looking ancient japan styled gear for his 75 nin and sam. for the people complaining bout goddess being out as long a it has now with no stuff besides campaign yet consider this. when CoP released it had nothing except some upper lvl exp spots (pointing at bibiki bay here) and hard as nails story areas that before any nerfs occured most players had a hard time even getting through. it had no endgame content till sea released. AU when it released also only had besieged and assault for a long while till SE started making a new form of endgame after like the 4th update or so each update till AU finished. AU also spoiled the player base. everyone is acting like tons of endgame in a expansion is the norm when AU has twice as much of it as every other expansion. anyway i'd expect to probably see some goddess endgame next update unless they are gonna wait till the walk of echoes zone in the dats releases and make goddess endgame more zilart and CoP styled where we gotta unlock a endgame area and most of the expansions endgame is linked to that zone

There will be expansions until the game is shut down, the cost to income ratio on developing an expansion only favors SE more and more as time passes.

Expansions have generally been on a 18 month cycle. You are correct that the next expansion probably wouldn't be released until next year, but this would be the appropriate time to make the announcement of it (6 months in advance).

They weren't even close to finishing ToAU when they announced WotG. People made the same complaints at that time, that they shouldn't be working on a new expansion if the old one wasn't done, etc. SE has said many times that they have two development teams, and they cycle between the two for each expansion. Content of one expansion is not mutually exclusive with the next expansion.

There will be a new expansion, but i seriously doubt there will be any hint of it at this new Fan fest, Im thinking 2009 is when we will get our first hints. Expect some news next summer and eventual hype building untill this time next year, then fanfest and finally release the half finished shell of an expansion in time for xmas or in the new year. Exactly as happened with WOTG.

WOTG is still far too early in its development imho, they havent even opened up the northlands and their is also the mysterious Walk of Echos area. The Main story line (not the city weakness) has barely even got off the ground yet. There has been some decent stuff and developments from WOTG but not near the scale of awesomeness TOAU gave us. Overall, its a weak expansion of which the main content (Campaign) isnt really that interesting, but due to the complexity of making it, seems to have taken most of the developers time.

Id much rather be Exploring a whole new continent or area (North West South, Far East Take your pick) than the same old areas re-skinned right now, but hey. I just hope whatever comes next will bring the same excitement myself and many players felt when they started discovering something Completely new and refreshing the first time they stepped of the boat in Aht Urghan Whitegate.

A friend of mine attended last years fanfest. He said he stepped outside into a alley for a smokebreak and to his suprise, there was Sundi and some other guy who was the designer of Salvage. They had also snuck back there to smoke.

So what answers did you beat out of them, I asked. He got nothing, didn't even ask. Spineless bastard is not my friend anymore.

For those who will attend, keep an eye on the alleys and bring your shillelaghs.

Don't worry about Germany, that's just an advertisement thing, there is noone of consequence there or new information to be had. Basically just trailers and a few demo stations. Might get lucky and get a mouse pad signed by the European Producer and have your photo taken with some Mithras.

Went last year and had more fun chilling with my friends from the game than at the actual fanfest. They did have a decent amount of information at the time though and that one was a few days. This one seems kind of weak being only one day and all.

That being said, i'll probably go just to see my friends in CA. They really need to bring this to the east coast one of these years...

Oh did you go to that one too? I went that year because it was right down the street from me and i won the CoP computer that night. The tour was a good idea, but they make much more money off of the hype of a fanfest, and they don't have to move any of their workers out of the city. SE headquarters is right around LAX

Yeah I went with a buddy of my LS back then and his friend. It was really tiny compared to the Fan Fest. I think that year's naked taru run was hilarious. And I was off by that pc by two numbers. D:

Yes, they walk around with character/server on their tag. I loved the event last year, met a lot of cool people from my server, and at that time most linkshells on our server had a fair relationship with the exception of 1 or 2 douchebags I met. However I refuse to go this year, because if I came in contact with anyone from a certain server-transfer linkshell who ruined our server via the packet-bot over the past half year, im sure there would be words exchanged, possibly fists, and I would end up getting kicked out. Though I think barely any of them would have the balls to go there, and quite a few of them would need their mom's permisison.
