RPG discussion
Its the original, why is there a problem with it? A lot of people play RPGs, let them have discussion, its a pretty active forum, I dont see why there is the hate.
I don't have any problem w/ it personally, I was just telling you what he was referring to.
I still dont understand why he even has a problem with it.
I don't hate it, just don't see a reason to separate it. It's not like either forum are bursting with activity... could use some centralized traffic.
I think the issue has only started to come in now that we have both a general video gaming forum, and a RPG-specific forum. Before the VG forum, people got used to plopping anything that was games-related into the RPG forum, and there are a lot of legacy threads in that forum that could be moved over to the VG General forum. It's just kind of confusing that's all.
The second issue with the RPG forum, at least from the perspective of someone who plays computer games, is that it is really a forum about JRPGs. This has come about because it started as the FFXII forum, and also because a lot of people from the FFXI community were/are big JRPG gamers in the first place.
As for the WoW subforum, it's nice to finally have one. I get the impression that posters were "scared" of making WoW threads on BG because of the ancient split in the BG LS over to WoW, as well as the number of trolls who can royally cock up a WoW thread. Now that there's a dedicated space for it, I think it will become more active and interesting. Not to mention not everything WoW related will get truncated into the WotLK beta thread.
Any comments about the WoW forum were jokes. I really hope no one has taken them seriously, for their sake.
I just find it silly that after about more than year of dealing with arguments like "We shouldn't splinter General up with a vidoegame board" now the exact reverse is the issue.
More people need to play RO with us so we can get our own subforum!
In the long term though the constant splintering of forums leaves the 'parent' forums kind of colorless and uninteresting. Moving active and high-traffic threads around inevitably leads to this. Imagine what would happen if Political Crapheap, Sports Arguments and General Multimedia subforums were created.
I agree for the most part, I think there should only be a videogame section. Given this community was formed around a game, I think it would be the healthiest subforum without hurting general. General basically had only one videogame thread and an occasional offshoot for overhyped titles.
Need a FFXI subforum pointing to the FFXI category to throw the server into a space-time paradox.

(was a good game on release... but it just couldn't keep the nostalgia going. You will be missed)
Would it be worth it to put all the fighting games in a subforum? The two different SF4 threads, BlazBlue, KOF XII, Tatsunoko vs Capcom, Marvel vs Capcom 2 etc etc can all go into it.
Only three active threads on fighting games. Even the Brawl subforum had more than that.
there would be more w/it's own forum section. It's just common sense to not make new threads on stuff to clutter up the regional "gaming" forum. BB and SF4 thread could be broken up into many different parts if people wanted to. and w/ other fighting games coming out i don't think it would ever die. Look how big the fighting threads are?
I agree w/ this... unless Brawl forum is still actively kicking and lively, changing it into a "fighting game" sub forum would be a good move and allow growth
