People bitch about Harry Potter apparently containing satanic references, if they found out there was stuff from/about the Bible in a game they would be all over that in a heartbeat, people are fucking stupid, but there's no reason not to support the developer, especially when this is shaping up to GOTY material from a brand new developer.

To cry "I'm not supporting them anymore" over the possibility of a week or two delay is petty, even if the reason for such delay seems petty to you.

The Harry Potter books didn't contain any satanic references, it was just people being stupid. Are these people overreacting about this? Sure, but that doesn't mean they don't have to remove it. There's a big difference between idiots taking things that barely resemble stuff from the Bible and songs explicitly quoting Holy Scriptures.

Granted, I think the fact that the words are from a 2 year old licensed song written by a Muslim makes the complaint pretty hypocritical, but hypocrisy never stopped extremists before. At least the delay is only ~1 week.

this isn't game of the year to me, i'm not one of the people who has been following it and thinking it's going to be the best game ever. it's a fun game, but i also don't like what's going on with it currently, and i still think it'll be boring after a few weeks.

Also, people bitching about a quote from the bible being in a game is a little different than people bitching about a quote from the Qu'ran being in a game. People that bitch about the bible version are doing it because they don't want to have the bible forced on them and people who bitch about the Qu'ran version are people who are insulted by the fact that someone mentioned their religion.

We have been informed by the publisher that the release date for LittleBigPlanet will change. We have tentatively changed the ship date in our system to October 28, 2008 pending confirmation from the vendor. You will be notified again once we have an official date.

I just cannot believe they are delaying it because of that song. Humanity's stupidity knows no bounds.

I couldn't agree more about MM. This doesn't change my outlook on the game, and especially not the developer. They are bringing a very exciting game to the market, and i TRULY believe that they are onboard to support fans down the line by altering/patching gameplay issues that may arise.

I can wait... just sucks that i have to if for no other reason than because it just that much longer to wait.

We learnt yesterday that there is a lyric in one of the licensed tracks which some people may find offensive, and which slipped through the usual screening processes. Obviously MM and Sony together took this very seriously. LBP should be enjoyable by all. So within 12 hours of hearing about this issue involving a lyric (in Somalian, I believe!), we prepared an automatic day 0 patch and had a new disk image ready; however a decision was made within Sony that the right thing to do for quality and support of people with no on-line was to replace existing disks. They assure us that they are doing everything in their power to get things straightened out as fast as possible, and will announce dates soon.

So MM had a patch ready and Sony said no and decided to opt for the delay.

yea, i did a little more research and i can see why they did what they did, ms had released some crap xbox game in 2003 with a like situation but actually released it and it ended up blowing up in their face later. it just sucks, but guess we'll all just have to deal

It's probably that SCEE doesn't want to put themselves in the field of fire as far as any sort of radical opinions or associations. I can understand why they'd do it. I don't like it, but I can understand why it was done, especially given global events at the time.

Meh okay, at work our LBP is still street dated for 10/21. Which means, when i scan the game, according to the register, it says "This Product is to be Held 10/21"

Now I'm going to try to buy it on the 21st, and i'll tell you guys if it works or not. Our November ad DOES say that LBP breaks on the 4th of November, but if any of your local TRUs are like mine (and around this time of the month i'm sure it will be) then most likely noone pulled the games and sent them back because none of them know wtf a Little Big Planet is. Our's are still right where i left them on thursday(not counting the one i'm hiding to buy tuesday)
