    Kirby Super Star Ultra

    http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedi...rultra_box.png

Hey, it's kind of an RPG, there's an RPG-like boss battle at one point...

Anyway, is anyone else excited for this? A portable version of Kirby Super Star has always been on my most wanted list, and this one snuck up on me - I only found out about a month ago that it was coming out. Already have it pre-ordered for next week, it's easily my favorite Kirby game of all-time.

    Features:
    - Two additional "games," and three more mini-games.
    - Two new Arena modes (the one part of the original game I couldn't beat).
    - Canvas Curse-like touch-screen functionality added to all the old levels*.
    - Same old cartoon puffball graphics that captured your heart originally.

I just got Dragon Quest IV but honestly, I'm twice as excited for Kirby and I'll probably leave DQ by the wayside once this game arrives next week. This was always one of my SNES favorites and it should be perfect on the DS.

*not really, I made that one up.

Me too, people need to be more excited about this. It's Kirby Fucking Super Star in portable form for fuck's sake! What, it's not some god-awful bastardized variant of Final Fantasy VII, so no one cares? Sheesh.

Any word on how co-op works? If it's single-cart then I'm buying. Otherwise, I still got a working copy of the SNES original.

Revenge of Meta Knight is by far the the greatest Kirby game, period. Epic story, humor, and Kirby going all one man army on a giant flying battleship? What's not to love?

That, I don't know. I wish it mattered for me, most of my friends think they're too cool for videogames.

I may pick this up, but the only game I've played seriously that had Kirby in it was Kirby's Pinball , which freakin' rocked on the GBC, and Smash Brothers.

Yeah, there was 5 different games/stories. An Arena mode, which was basically a boss rush, and 3 mini games (fuck yes Megaton Punch). The DS version has 2 new modes, "Revenge of the King" which is apparently another platforming mode, and "Meta Knight Ultra" which is a mode where you play as Meta Knight using the touch screen. 3 new mini games that are 4 player download wireless play and local co-op for all the main modes.

    4 more days.

24 hours is too many goddamn hours between me and Kirby nirvana. I played a bit on SNES9x this weekend but my computer seems to have issues with emulation and the sound was all off, it was like giving a crack addict some caffeine pills.

This is a rebirth of the SNES game, has 7 full-length 'adventures' in it (beginning with the original gameboy one, sort of), plus some minigames (usually of the timing/button mashing variety). The rebirth has two new 'adventures' I think, and at least one new minigame.

    Can't wait

Its the one i think it is!

Me and my little brother used to play co-op on that all the time... isn't there mode in space with a hidden level with a bunch of thief guys...

and to create a second player you had to find a enemy swallow it and spit him out and it would become your co-op player

According to gaf, there's a way to play with one cart, but you have to look over your friend's shoulder? So maybe single screen but still playable, not really sure what they meant.

Also, BUY THIS GAME. It's sooooooooooo good, this is what made Kirby a Nintendo star imo, my cousin and I used to play this for ages. Best overall use of Kirby powers ever, tons of various skills from the same power instead of one generic B move for all of them, different gameplay modes and some of the best 2d coop anywhere. Spoiled me for other Kirby games.

Everyone should buy it, if only for the shiny cover. I just picked up my copy and I'm ecstatic, I've been fucking waiting for this. Best bus/train/subway game ever, it should have been made available in handheld form a long time ago. This is one portable-whore version of an old classic I'm willing to pay for.

Couldn't agree more, god bless Kirby Super Star and now its bigger brother.
