All joking aside, abstinence-only education is a root of evil in a teen's life and in school systems. Kids wanna screw, they're going to be peer-pressured into screwing, they're going to be horny as hell and this is a time-tested, proven fact that hasn't changed since public/private schools were instituted. They're going to fuck and there's nothing anyone can do about it, so at least educate them about what the hell they're doing and how to not fuck up, or else we end up with, yeah, babies in trashcans.

Jesus Christ adults are so irresponsible. Probably more than half of parents don't even bother talking to their kids about sex, and I'm willing to bet a good portion of kids were mistakes just like trashcan-baby. Can't we just start sterilizing people who ask for it? Please?

Honestly I don't see how one can be absolutist about this. Sex is a natural activity, and young adults will naturally want to explore it on their own terms and on their own time lines.

Give them education so that they have the knowledge and tools to do so in a safe manner if and when they so choose. That doesn't mean encourage them to have sex, but rather come to accept inevitable reality.

Besides laughing at the partisan hack Rhinox here (yes, everything you say is OMG NEOCONS LOL REPUBLICANS), I'm curious to how children do not learn this stuff on their own. My sex education in school was severely limited (Oddly enough, I took vacations that fell almost religiously during the sex education times). It's not like I'm retarded because I didn't see the videos and shit. I know what a condom is, I know what birth control methods there are...kids know that if you fuck without protection, babies happen. And no, my parents never had a "talk" with me really either.
I think the world educates you more on this stuff than videos and the sex education taught, though I'm not saying they don't work to an extent.

500,000 - 125,000 = 375,000 differance in dead babies.

Here in MA, we have a program called "Baby Safe Heaven" in which mothers can drop off newborns to any Hospital, Police Station, Fire Station.... and have not even a single question asked besides "Are you the mother"

Yet, people here still rather leave thier children in trash cans..... middle of streets, in trash bags, DUMP TRUCKS! I don't get it........ could probably find a police officer/station before you find a trash can.
