    Simple COR Question

Do marksmanship skill or ranged accuracy effect quick draw accuracy? Everything I have been able to find implies no, but my mule is now 58 COR(level sync static in jungles, subbed whm) and I first got the chance to use it on lesser colibri today. I did a total of 31 elemental shots and 5 light shots in a short party I had.. all the light shots missed and only one ice shot full stuck(for 160ish). About a half dozen ice shots were half resisted to 80s, other shots and the rest of the ice did 20ish. Since I have been treating COR like a support job so far(and being cheap since I have easy access to 70+ gear once it gets there), my marksmanship skill is 0 and my gear is mostly cheap MP+, though I did use appropriate HQ staffs for each shot as well as balrahn's ring. Will getting a good AGI build and leveling into AF hat make the difference, or are both BG-wiki and normalwiki missing that ranged accuracy or marksmanship skill effect resist rate?

    short answer: no

addendum: you were fighting colibris, colibris are resistant to magic.

Lowering resists is going to take AGI, QD accuracy merits, and(possibly) Magic Accuracy. Magic Accuracy hasn't been proven but I figure it's a safe assumption since Magic Attack Bonus increases the damage. Damage for QD is determined by the DMG rating on your bullets and gun; the only way you're going to increase your DQ damage is by adding AF hat and Magic Attack Bonus.

Marksmanship Skill of 0 and you're almost 60? Ugh..that makes for a very sad panda.

It's a mule, I don't see the point capping it and spending extra gil on a second set of melee gear when it'll just be doing rolls/quick draw once it's 75 anyway =/ Good to hear that I don't need to skill it up for QD though.

    Protip for marksmanship skillups:

Buy cheap bullets? If it comes to this there is some galka in bastok selling stacks for I think 8k or something like that.

Keep in mind that Gun + Bullet base D make up QD base D. If you're using a shitty gun and cheapo bullets your QD damage will always suck. Colibri aren't necessarily more magic resistant than anything else, but they do have RDM MDB so you'll see a slight chunk taken off your damage compared to normal. Otherwise just AGI/MAcc/Staves for QD accuracy. AF head adds a slight chunk to QD base damage, doesn't do anything for Acc so you'll want an AGI+ head for Light/Dark shots.

Or it may be karma for bastardizing a good job instead of leveling BRD on that mule.

I have reason to believe that level of the mob in comparison to yours affects accuracy on QD as well.

Colibris are much more magic resistant than 95% of non NMs.

I get resisted on Drains on them WAY more than I do for the comparible level Mamools.

I already did level brd on it D: I have a shark gun and iron bullets for quick draw damage now, got what i could find for agi gear(drone earrings, agile gorget, 1 agi ring + balrahns, af body, empress pin).. and still can't stick sleep on defoliators at 60 @_@ If marksmanship is that important, i'll probably skill it up later.. I just don't really see a point buying a second set of dusk and lotting other melee gear for a mule so I can DD in merits... mainly was just going to use it on COR/BRD for tank parties.

He definitely should have stuck with BRD. Sad Panda indeed.

All the main COR's in my linkshell seem to believe that Magic Accuracy DOES in fact effect Quick Draw Accuracy. Unfortunately no one has found a way to prove this yet, but we even go as far to wear Magic Acc rings instead of AGI rings and I *think* we see a difference.

If 2 AGI = 1 Quick Draw Accuracy, then rings like Omega Ring with 3 Magic Acc are awesome for QD builds. (Credits to Kadaj on Unicorn as well)

I plan on going out and firing a stack or two each way and comparing results as soon as I find a good plan of attack to get accurate data.

This, even though you already quoted that you did Brd>75 already. Also, I'm not quite sure how you aren't landing your light shot fairly decently on mobs considering you have access to light/apollo staff, which I did not. Just gonna have to go with what Callisto said. Not saying you wouldn't know how to do the job correctly, but you're one of those Cors I would not want to XP with going to 75.

Maybe you should just lvl sync in dunes till 75. Problem solved? :D

And concerning M.Acc+, I don't run parses or anything so everything I do is strictly eye-balling but the many many times I've done Kirin using Wind Shot I've noticed Rdm roll greatly increases my chances of landing a full damage shot.

This always led me to believe that either A) I'm lucky. B) M.Acc affects QD just like M.A.B.

There's such a thing as adequate gear while leveling, though. Not DDing in parties means you're leveling up more slowly, which doesn't sound like something I'd want. Especially Colibri...I staticed with a PLD and would have to use new food like every 3 fights. Slug Shot just smashes them down.

It's not like you need to lot fabulous Rare/Ex end-game gear to be good while leveling up, because obviously it doesn't help you before you can equip it. Noct/Jaridah, AF, a good gun, and the right cheap bonecrafted +racc rings for your level will do fine. Not having a Joyeuse at 70 would be annoying, but maybe you can temp buy/borrow an M.kris and just sell it back @75.

The bullet cost is (technically) a consideration, but...well, I considered it worth it. Can't imagine it would have been nearly as fun otherwise.

Honestly, 0 skill? The job is cheap as balls otherwise (dice exempt) as you'll hardly have to keep gearing yourself (Noct +1 set/Hairpin/Lizzy boots/Nomad's Mantle/Rings/Gun Belt) all last you for a good amount of time.

That Slug Shot thingamajig isn't too shabby either.

It's not really gil cost as much as time >_> Considering I did 25-58 in little over 2 days, even if it was capped beforehand it'd be a huge pain in the ass to go back and skill up that much @_@ Sure, I might slow down my parties a bit.. but compare it to having another DD instead of a COR =/ Adding a 6-8 hour time investment recapping skill to what'll just be another 30 hours exping to get 75 is a pretty big amount of time wasted considering I'll likely still be meritting on BRD and won't be using marksmanship endgame @_@

It takes jack shit all time to level marksmenship, and for the effort you get slugshot, which does a tonne of damage from the second you get it, even on cor.

    What you say
I might slow down my parties a bit.. but compare it to having another DD instead of a COR =/
    What everyone thinks
I definitely do slow down my parties a bit.. they should have got another COR instead of a GIMP =/

I party with ls members who don't seem to care.. 15k/hr is good enough =_= I asked a simple question, I don't really give a shit if you think my MULE is horribly gimp for not having marksmanship leveled. I have no other job on it I can skill with, and using a 450 delay weapon at best before peacemaker to skill up does take a damn long time. I'll pass on spending 25% of the time it's useful for to get it skilled up, thanks.

I don't see why you'd merit on Brd when you can slap together AH/Assault gear; toss up up Xp/Atk rolls, find a Brd, three well equipped melee and go to town on Colibri while spamming Slugs and walk away with an easy 25-30k/hr.

I do nothing, but pickup groups and most of my parties usually have two Bard..Cor's? I don't even remember the last Cor I meritted with.
