What a wonderful read. Now I know why the TH thread seemed like Gaea had stolen it from someone. Classic Poof indeed. Please, stay on Odin :D

The only reason why I posted all of those critiques was to help a guide that many people--including those I deal with on a regular basis--would probably see on that wiki.
But after seeing your follow up blog entry, if that's the way you appreciate the effort taken after you asked for criticism, forget it. It's a shame one can't go back and edit out the content in the post, because I only regret providing it now.
Having had a little experience detailing strategies for events (to the entire community on occasion, no less), I have no problems writing my own and telling people to stay away from yours. I'm even more inclined to do it now than I was before.
Good luck.
lol.. do you mean Payu? Did he seriously? lolol
Yeah, just so you know, that wasn't serious. And everyone's in statics, pretty much... Payu was in ours.
Though he said he doesn't remember if he did or not, so i dunno. Only other ones I can think of would be Siri and Loo, I dunno who they ran with before they joined us, they quit whatever group they were in when they joined us and have since quit game anyway. can't think of anyone who isn't in a group, honestly... /shrug
Doesn't really matter, but I'm doubtful.
btw, level 74 BRD in nyzul RIGHT NOW!
Um, it's been a while since I've done nyzul with someone with a TK pearl and only a couple of times. I would again anytime TK people have always been great to group with.
lolToth, I'm flattered you think that my TH theory is so innovative that I "stole it". It's pretty simple really, and it might even be wrong. It's just a theoryIt's nice to see you still play. I heard someone stole your ipod or something and you killed yourself ;/
My blog isn't talking about everyone on BG. Only the people just trying to cause drama and get attention. Like Thunderblaze, errm I mean Toth here
Ashira there's a whole section of my guide that praises the many strengths of a bard in Nyzul Isle. I just don't recommend the job for "beginner parties" right off hand because I think it takes a bit of skill to play. Bards that are just used to standing around and singing songs are a complete waste of time in Nyzul Isle. If you are a great bard who plays their job and subjob to the fullest, or know one that does, that's really great and I strongly suggest you take them on a Nyzul runI know I would ^^
Seriously though I'm not really taking anything to heart. I created something that may help some people and I don't think itll hurt anyone. I think that's what's important. Disgruntled people from Fairy that are probably on their second or third account because they are addicted to pos hacking aren't really a concern of mine. I'm surprised they are so obsessed with me they'll still post in threads that I make even though I haven't been on Fairy for like a year and a half. Don't you and Thunderblaze have some kclubs to ninja lot, Toth?
To echo Ashi, not to sound like a total prick, but if Payu asked to join it's an inside joke you probably don't wanna know about.
Um, I don't recall Payu asking to join me in Nyzul Isle. Also, we're not taking any new members at the moment because we don't need it. We do occasionally have a spot open because certain events can overlap ours (specifically HNM) and that's the only time I'll really snag someone from another shell.
Um, is there a new rule that TK people aren't allowed to do an event outside of TK? That's news to me, TK has always been a pretty reputable shell, though I haven't seen them around much lately.
If we only had 5 for a specific run, I would take Payu, but I think he's just a Black Mage, and this isn't a job I have a lot of experience with in Nyzul isle so it wouldn't be my first choice just because of my own lack of experience.
No, we're allowed to do outside TK as long as it's not something we do as a group (unless we get permissions) and it doesn't interfere with other scheduled events.
Payu's not really playing anymore, so that point is moot, but he's also BRD RNG and WAR.
Just curious as to who ran with you, since I'd never heard of it, and all the NAs in our shell have pretty much always been involved with statics.
You can do things like that with anyone you want in TK, but I just don't think you should say people in TK want to join or have joined your Nyzul group as a way to attempt to boost the reputation of your Nyzul guide when none have.
Sometimes people try to improve their outlook by throwing out TK's name when it has nothing to do with whatever is going on. That's all Ashi and I are pointing out. Again, not trying to be an asshole on purpose, but it sucks to have you or your LS's name thrown into an argument when we're most likely not involved in any way.
Um I've never said anyone in TK wanted to join my Nyzul Isle group. I've just said I've done events with people with a TK pearl. It's been quite some time though, and I haven't really seen TK around in a while. The only people I've actually had ask to specifically join me and have are members from BBQ, ML, and Res. I've also had people from these groups and other groups just come on random runs when we needed another person. While I've done Nyzul Isle with BBQ members more than any other group, I've only actually helped two of their members with their Runic Discs. That would be Atlantir who got his Runic Key, and Seif's disc just cleared floor 80 today. I expect to clear his disc next week. Wednesday we're doing 81-90 with a 76-80 run hosted by Atlantir. Sunday we'll do 91-100 with a 1-10. Hoodini, also from BBQ, wants to hop in the new disc climbing party. We're startng more discs on Sunday from scratch.
At the moment, I'm just helping other people raise their discs and get equipment while I collect points. I've already had my Runic Key, my weapon, and I unlocked my WS the day of the update. I think party of the popularity of my group is because I'm so focused on points that it's a great benefit to anyone else who wants to join. They'll get their disc leveled and maybe score a nice piece of gear they've wanted.
My Nyzul isn't the greatest, by far. I think it's just popular cause it certainly isn't awful and we have some popular people in it. What can I say, I cheat and use fillmode, so I clear the floors pretty fast. We're successful, and people are getting what they want and I get to hoard up tokens. Everyone's happy and that's all that matters
There are people that have leveled 6 (600+ floors) discs from scratch before the update and have done a ton of repeated boss runs. The boss runs can easily add up to be another 100-200 floors, and then you gotta add up all the extra floors they've scored because they had a lot of extra time. People like that are far more experienced than I am. If I had to put a number on it, I've probably done half that experience with about 120-130 runs, including the fails. I've probably only cleared about 450 floors if you exclude repeating boss runs. I've only been the leader for about 60 or 70% of all that,so that puts my leadership experience in Nyzul Isle at less than 3 months.
I don't proclaim to have all the answers. All I care about is the people in my group successfully clearing their discs and getting their equipment while I hoard points while at the same time helping anyone I can get their own group going so their people can get their gears, and points, and level their discs.
Maybe it was just plain selfish of me to try to help anyone out that has no idea where to start, or let people come along with and have a chance at a piece of equipment or get some tokens. BRB kwitting FFXI.
I keep saying I'm not trying to be an ass but...
You specifically get called out by Izzy when he said your guide contains a good deal of information the majority of established players would not agree with. You counter this by saying your group is popular and well established, containing players from LSs of supposedly good standing, specifically naming, among others, TK. How is this not implying, or even directly saying there are people in our LS that run with you in an attempt to make your group and your methods seem standard and accepted by reputable groups?Originally Posted by Gaea
I don't really care about the Nyzul argument or whatever. You can do whatever you want and write whatever guides you want. Again, it just sucks to have your LS's name thrown in when you're not involved.
God I sound like a prick but it's like you just keep back peddling out of every argument and dismiss everything even remotely critical about anything you write. I feel like this is all really just an attention grabbing thing and I'm playing right into it. If this is the case, then bravo to you because it certainly worked.
Don't worry Kaeko, no one takes Poof seriously anymore anyway.
Um I don't consider the group I run with as *mine* though. I consider it as "ours" and ours being whoever comes on the run at that time.
I think my guide is pretty good for getting people started. That's my opinion I guess. Not everyone agrees with other people's guides. If I'm able to getpeople off the ground floor and fighting Adamantoise, then mission accomplished. That's all that matters to me. It's not that much different than me giving advice that people ask for in the game. I only decided to write it down so people would quit asking me.
Sure there are different (and in some people's opinion) better way to do things. But better for you might no be better for someone else. For example, in regards to Nyzul Isle, "better" is usually implying "faster" because this is really just a race against the clock. "Faster" might not really be the best idea for a new group, and I've seen it first hand.
For example, even to this day, I do not split up on lamp floors. I keep everyone together and drop them off at lamps they can safely handle. If a lamp is guarded by sight aggro, whoever's with me kills the mob and we drop the next person off. If the floor seems pretty big and it's primarily sound based aggro, I consider splitting people up if we can do so safely. I started doing things this way because I got sick of people running into a lamp that's guarded by a pudding and dying. After clearing 5 floors with as much as 18 and a half minutes left on the clock, I've concluded that SE expects party members to "clear" guarded lamps to prevent these kinds of mishaps.
However, yes, it can be faster just to have everone split up and only someone with "Sleep" taking a lamp that's guarded by a mob that aggros sight. It does work. It can run into snags, but it's fast and effective and may slice a couple minutes off of your time. I just don't think the risk is worth it when I tend to have so much time left over.
The issue on a Bard. Yes, I emphasize a Bard that isn't for new players even though it can speed up Soulflayer kills significantly and help pull mobs to camp and get people off floors a bit quicker. None of that matters if you have a bard that's used to just running back and forth and singing 4 songs. If you got a great Bard, that's awesome and you should hug him and squeeze him and offer him gil or sex or whatever it takes so he doesn't leave your group.
I think the other thing people disagreed with is that I pointed out windower's fillmode. Oh well.
Go look at the past 4 or more posts by Poof and tell me what word EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM starts with...
Um....
"Um.." How come you call my character Poof when it's Gaea? Are you trying to point out that you JUST figured out that my character migrated from another server? If this is some kind of attempt to feel like you've accomplished something, I hate to be the one to inform you that this is pretty common knowledge...
Though, I don't like to brag about being Poof from Fairy server. Mostly, because it's Fairy server ;/ Nobody should brag about being anything from Fairy server. Except, maybe if you are Vegetto. I'm surprised he didn't hop to Fenrir like he planned. I'm also surprised reputable players like Rykume decided to stay there as well. Fairy's just a bad reputation waiting to happen with people like Toth, Thunderblaze, and Kinesis. I still remember the drama they stir up with their threads on KI bragging about how they ninja lot stuff, MPKed someone, or botted Mee Degi ;/
I call you Poof so people don't make the same mistake I did and actually attempt to take you seriously.
<3 u gaea! miss seeing you in whitegate![]()
have your blu equip blank gaze for flayers. I typically open on flayers with blank gaze and then everyone engages and we begin fighting.
Sorry, Izzy, but I don't think anyone should take anyone seriously on anything regarding a video game, especially me. I'd feel bad for anyone that does. Someday you'll understand little grasshopper.
I haven't seen a lot of people around from TK what have you been up to? I heard you haven't been playing much lately
Whoa, I forgot ALLLLLL about this. Thanks! I'm BLU75 and I forgot that this was light based, LOL! I never go BLU so I'm never looking at the spells. I'll add this to my little guide too!
Regardless of what you might think, you of all people do not have a higher understanding of anything regarding this game, or anything for that matter. Do not act like a condescending prick. No one here actually thinks your feeble attempts to validate yourself by posting about what you've accomplished, what you plan to accomplish, who your friends are, or what linkshells you've been in actually matter. This is a fact, not open to debate. You'd do better locking yourself in the paint thinner section of your local hardware store, pulling the pin on an incendiary grenade, shoving the pin and the grenade into your cavern sized vagina and just fading away.
No one wants you here, stop acting like someone does.
