I think part of my hard time with ores is that I'm unable (and unwilling) to deal with planting/feeding/harvesting them on X day. I check them daily, feed them on whatever day it is when I'm home for lunch, and harvest them when they glow.

Really, I probably shouldn't be gardening at all. That's why I do it on only one mule instead of all of them.

I gorw platinum nuggets, and I used to pay very close attention to feeding plants light crystals on lightsday.

Now, I feed/harvest whenever and I get the same, sometimes better results than when I used to sweat planting day and feeding day.

I, too, cast my lot with the minimal-care-whenever-lot.
Planting on Friday, feeding Monday when I get back from work, harvesting on Thursday when I get back from work. In between I don't look at them at all ('though I do watch over each once directly after planting).
Since all characters are treated them same, I get a broad range of results while the variables stay the same (seed, day, moon phase, care and feeding given).

I my experience, I get phenomenal results as well as abyssal results during the same harvesting period. It's mostly a matter of chance and luck.

Hm, that's good to know. I need to make some time and sit down and decide what would be better for me to grow than ores. With all my crafting mules, there should be tons of options I can take advantage of.
