    Finding ze spyware

    One of my friends said his WoW account got hacked, but before I break my ass trying to find all the stuff about how to clean your PC from the various hacking threads, is it even the same?

    Also, search function fails I can't find the old post on how to fix the FFXI hackings, all the links where borked in the vB move.

    Trojan's a virus not really spyware, that's usually how people get in and steal shit. Avast can find them, think there's other programs like Prevx and AVG that catch different things. Though AVG is crap in my recent experiences >.> (?)

    If I were your friend I'd probably post a hijackthis log to a tech support forum and have them find out where the error lies.

    Find a tech support forum you trust, run HijackThis on the infected machine, and post the log. Most reliable way to find out what exactly the problem is, and the best way to fix it.

    If you want to be surefire about it though, fdisk guarantees results, it's just a tossup as to whether that takes less time than cleaning the threat (varies by threat). And, sometimes, it's just not an option, I get that.
