yeah, except I mentioned that strategy specifically in my text, perhaps you didnt bother to read it? Ill quote it for you.

Our own gimmick, except its not a gimmick its a gameplay mechanic, large scale mass damage as quickly as possible. In military terms this is similar to carpet bombing or dropping a nuke, decisive immediate victory, realizing you will take some casualties, realizing you will lose if the battle is not finished within scant moments of it starting.
You idiots thinking using a zerg strategy is cheating need to grow the fuck up.

the difference between the cc boss and AV is more pronounced even than is being made out here. the fact is that as was mentioned above the boss in CC reacted to each step of the process. you realized you were making progress when a cause and effect linkage could be established. i cast a blue spell and suddenly his spellbook changes. he's not casting red spells anymore but yellow.

AV likely has some gimmick involving 2 hrs. SE told us this with their video. the problem is, we may even be affecting it in some way but we don't know that it's happening. if a certain set of actions produces a positive effect or a negative effect that we can measure, we can then experiment and isolate the exact cause.

AV gives us no such hints that we have found yet as any action we take besides zerging the living hell out of it before it can take a "JOO R DIE NOWZ" action is met with instant and painful death. we're smart. we can take an idea and run with it as long as at the end of the day we can file the idea in either a yes or a no pile. thus far we've seen no indication that anything we've done has the slightest chance of hitting the yes pile and we just have a shitload of half baked jailer weapon ebon panel ideas sitting in the no pile.

I would be led to believe that SE thinks so, but have they done any REAL testing or monitored current tests of the '2hr' nature on live servers? Perhaps their baby isn't functioning as intended.

I would hope this avenue hasn't been overlooked, and we would have no control over it if it was, but does anyone know? Have there been any recent interviews or statements saying they know without a doubt that the secret method is functional?
It's been debated and I think there are still quite a few people that believe there's still something wrong with AV. I think SE's intention was to make a unique mob that was killable by something obscure, what they failed to do was actually offer up anything after several years of failure. As was pointed out, when people did figure out how to kill it their own way (wall, zerging) SE had a hissy fit that it wasn't the obscure way they had always hoped for.

Just to be clear - I'm not suggesting or advocating any particular tactic or technique against AV, least of which being to apply the "color theory" or anything like that.

More to the point, I was just offering some perspective on the man behind the madness, and where this has all come from.

However, for the most people that did play it and beat that boss, I believe the majority used the holy wars approached.

I don't know about others, but I never used a strat. guide for it, I actually got it all by luck, randomly talked to Quistis at some point cause I was stumped (walkin around talking to every single npc lol in hopes of continuing the storyline) and then at that time it revealed Quistis was the King? or something like that....it's been so long my memory's foggy, but I guess I eventually played her in a card game and beat her, then eventually got the Holy Wars item out of it. After seeing the description, I just held on to it because it seemed to good to waste.

But SE claimed AV is a beatable mob though, they just want us to find out w/e the trick is <.<. They wouldn't even bother weakening AV if they never intended it to die.....they just wanted us to kill it in their "omg special way" and not our way of taking him down (as seen as they patch him every time the community defeats him).

This a joke right? start with casting triple on everyone, then Aura then haste on all. Then just Limit him to death, his star attack will never kill all 3 with 9999 HP, 1 will be alive with like 100hp left, so just full life the other 2 cure the first, rebuff and restart

    as easy as that

Yeah, that part got me too.
Outside of the one battle where you HAVE to, I never used Chu-Chu...

Deus was still easy as fuck.

Anyway, I don't think they'd pull something like the whole Chrono Cross element deal... it just probably wouldn't work too well in an online game.

maybe just maybe this guy is on to something. has anyone ever tried nuking AV in the order the games days go starting from the first day of a in-game week to see if it does anything? may be worth a shot even if its fruitless. would lmfao if it worked. of course afterward we can smack SE for it.

Maybe I was too low-level the one time I beat the game, but I kept having fuel issues. I never bought any of the Z-savers or any of that stuff, and I used Chu-Chu when fighting Marlute since he's immune to fuel drain.

Still, fighting helpers to take away abilities of the main boss is kind of one of Tanaka's hallmarks in this game, innit?

I definitely remember megiddo flare doing 9999 at level 100, although admittedly that was with a pretty halfassed set of junctions based around keeping all characters usable rather than maximizing one party's effectiveness. If I did it these days I'd just holy war and hope it doesn't wear off at the wrong moment, or try to max everyone's magic defense and keep shell up.

What about depopping one of Prudence's images? Does that count as a strategy or a gimmick?

I like how people skimp through an entire post just to pick what they want to hear/read.

I said some people used the holy wars method, some used the other

What's a "joke" about that Rata?
If you're implying every single person did the triple/aura shit you're off buddy.....I've seen countless people done the holy wars approach, and a bunch of others doing the triple/aura.

So what was your point again?

I like people with their selective reading, only take what they want to see and ignore the rest of the post.

I think what he meant by the word joke was "You can't be serious. That fight doesn't require a gimmick, it's really easy if you're halfway decently prepared and know how to take advantage of the game system you're given to work with. The only reason to use holy wars would be if you suck at FF8 and want an 'I win' button."

Naturally, my reply was an admission that I didn't know what I was doing when I played it 8 years ago.

and I never said it was required, I just said some used the holy wars, some used the other method, that's all...

Doesn't change the fact he only picked out what he wanted to read and ignored the rest of the post even though I mentioned it previously that two different approach were used against him.
