XD happened to my boyfriend once. We'd tele'd to Jugner [S] on lower jobs to campaign for a bit, graabed some chocobos and there was a linkshell fighting Ixion en route. Since we hadn't seen him, we stopped to watch all 'wow' like. Apparently my boyfriend got too close and suddenly his HP dropped and he dismounted his bird and died.. Was kinda funny, luckily I was on WHM to raise. (:

Yeah, you can die while on a chocobo to anything with aoe that's strong enough to normally kill you :3 Once while waiting for party members for a kuftal party, someone in party was fighting a cactar and I ate 1000 needles while on chocobo
