I might check it out, Grae. I haven't been designing any levels, because tbh I don't want to put a bunch of work into something that'll be deleted.![]()
Playing with this beta is like playing with Photoshop for the first time. It's really easy to do just about anything, but you can make anything look amazing with more advanced techniques and design. I'm kind of glad they are postponing the online co-op, as this game has incredible depth that requires experience. This goes without pointing out that there are about 200 items in just 3 levels, there'll be so much more to play with in the full game.
Question: I know you can create an item and save that item...Can you share that item with others once you make it? I'd assume you can. If that's the case, there's infinite possibilities (but we knew that already).
yes you can share it.
also i made a basic platforming level today, was kinda fun. Name is Izzy Playland
According to a 1up preview, items can be saved and shared with other people. (I'm guessing you can just steal/copy them from existing online levels maybe?)
But yeah, theres a really interesting 1up video podcast on all the cool levels they added.
I REALLY suggest people watch it, as it explains in depth the potential that this game has.

theres also some Wipeout HD and RE5 footage mixed in between all the LBP info. Watch the whole video!
Items can be shared, yeah. I've picked up a couple custom items from people's stages in reward bubbles or at the end of the stage. The SMB 1-1 level remake has the Goomba and Koopa as items, Metal Mountain had a dog monster someone made as a reward, and Heist 1 and 2 have some stuff to be found too, just off the top of my head.
Sharing yep. I do know that when you tweak your level's scoreboard at the end of a level, and are adding in prizes, you can designate if the object can then be shareable or not.
If you have some objects that you have earned, check your 'inventory' and you will see that some of them have a "C" next to them. Those are Community Objects and are shareable is what i figure.
I figured I should start posting on my own account here now, instead of going word of mouth through Mikayla. What's your PSN, Grae? I'll add you tomorrow morning or something, as soon as I get around to it.
I'll add anyone else too, just PM me or whatever or if there's a thread I missed for IDs, just point me towards it, lol.
PSN ID is Graelinn =)
Alright, I'll add you in the morning.
I sent my PS3 away to Sony (last Friday), due to the DRE (disc read error)
I just got the LBP beta key ; ; from playstation underground
Oh how it sucks to be caught in the middle
Just got my invite from PSU can add my gametag: jmcgarrell
Grats jmc!
Long Post for your FACES!
You know, i don't think that i have been this consumed with a game since before i quit FFXI. At least not in the same way where i find myself thinking about it in my day to day life, like at work for example. Only now... instead of thinking about doing our LS's first all BST+SMN Byakko it is about how to create a 'warping' checkpoint, or how to set a magnetic switch on a slow moving rod to activate 'time sensitve' occurances, OR how to use an emitter to essentially give players options on actual layout of my level (don't ask... or the next post will be even longer).
It is pretty crazy. I have ACTUALLY started keeping a notebook in my bag JUST for ideas i come up with out of nowhere. I don't want to get to committed since this beta ends in 4-5 days and the official word on a public beta hasn't been heard yet. So I have just been attempting to work on a co-op 'versus' level. I am finding it to be a bit annoying to test my level when it is pretty much something that needs to be done with a 2nd, 3rd, or 4th player there. Having a 2nd (and 3rd) controller helps but i need about 4 more hands too.
Hope to at least get Battle Dome done in time for some of you to check out at least, but i am a bit too focused on the zip line (if you remember the end of Forever Tree) right now because it is just fun as shit to mess with.
Have fun in the Planet!
The zip line was freaking awesome.
Does anyone remember if Media Molecule said for sure if they were going to allow you to copy the story levels in the final release? Reason i ask... on the very first story level there is the part where you are forced into the 'pit' and get to watch the tutorial on how to make yourself explode.
When you do, you respawn at the now moved checkpoint on the opposite side of the bridge. I ASSUME that they way that was done was... to have the same switch that drops the dissolve block (thus dropping the bridge) also activate a rod that drags that Checkpoint across to the opposite side of the bridge up top? Thoughts?
I want to create something similar in my Co-Op Versus level that will constantly rotate checkpoints to allow you to respawn in different areas... but am not entirely sure how i want to do it.
I got a PSU invite yesterday, only had time to play through the first two story levels, but oh my god this is hands down *the* GOTY. I can't wait until it lets me explore user created content...
One more level Norellicus! GO GO GO!
