Depends on the status of the cow. But yes it is good for the cow, if there is no calf to do the job. If theres no calf, or no one to milk it, thats bad. Cows also love it.

Once you start milking cows, you have to do it twice a day or else it discomforts the cow. I hear women who breast feed have a similar pain; if they're late on a daily breastfeeding their nipples start to hurt or something.

Yes, for women if you are used to breastfeeding several times a day and you don't (say, you are out of town but you pumped milk for your child to drink) your breasts get really sore from being overfilled and you'll also probably leak. :/ It's really uncomfortable.

Um, I'm pretty sure that milk production in cows ramps up and down like it does in people, unless it's artificially kept going by daily milking. If you take a cow that's been a milk-cow for years and don't milk it, that spells trouble. If you have a cow that had a calf, calf suckles until it's old enough not to and then momma cow stops getting "milked" naturally, that's fine.
