Madness, PETA's just after attention and nothing else.
Yeah well, modern milk-producing cows have been bred over the last couple of thousand years to be able to make far more milk than their calves would even need. And not milking them can cause serious problems, fever and udder infections etc. because the vast amount of milk starts to basically rot inside them. Milking cows doesn't cause them discomfort, most of them like it and if anything they seem really calm when being milked because it gives them the same sensation as a calf sucking.
Btw, milking cows do in modern agriculture get a break from it every year. My grandparents had a dairy farm up until '95, the cycle they follow is as close to nature as possible: Cow gives birth, after the first couple of days (first 4-5 days' milk is not really milk anyway, it's this thick yellow creamy substance super high in fat and nutrients) the calf is put on artificial milk and/or only given a portion of the mama cow's milk (it can't possibly drink all of it anyway, decent Friesian produces 25-30 litres per day, that's um.. six or seven US gallons?). Then the cow is milked twice-a-day for about 10 months or so up until the last month or two prior of giving birth again. It's gradually milked less and less to stop milk production (by this time it's naturally decreasing anyway), cow takes a break and just chills for a couple of months, gives birth again and the whole thing starts again. You can't keep milking cows producing high quantities of milk for year after year, they need the natural cycle of having calves inbetween. Anyway, end of Biology class.
Human and cow's milk are about the same fat content and you can technically make ice-cream from both... there was a weird documentary on TV here in UK few weeks back about cases where people shared their breastmilk and the returning trend of using bought milk/wetnurses. I.e. a mother due to ilness couldn't feed her own child so she got a friend to do it or even paid a wetnurse. And a gay couple who bought breast milk in little sachets for their babies they had had by a surrogate mother. It cost them something like five bucks per each tiny sachet and they were spending their lives' savings to get their babies the best possible start in life. Well all of that kinda made sense but then the documentary went on to some 50-something guy in America who swore that breast milk cured him from cancer thanks to all the antibodies in it and in the end the woman doing the documentary got a load of people to try out breastmilk by whipping it into cream and serving it with strawberries... yeah... Channel 4 ftw!
Some people would be hurting others. Depends on how bad they look I guess. We should just go naked and then we're hurting no one.
I don't know the facts, but isn't it possible for contaminants to pass into someone's
breast milk?
NEWSFLASH:
Today, in (location x), Ben and Jerry's new batch of Rocky Road ice cream was found
to have traces of Crack Cocaine in it.
I'd feel bad for all those that hate people drinking milk out of it's container now.. imagine
what would happen if this happened... some people would WANT to drink it out of the container now![]()
3 pages and still no mention of Pamela Anderson? I'm both shocked and disappointed.
HIV, hepatitis and other viruses can be passed on through breastmilk as well.
I don't get why so many people care. PETA didn't even pioneer this idea, they simply suggested it. If anything people should just laugh at this.
I mean, most people drink cow's milk which is absolutely disgusting. Even after pasteurization, blood/puss still slip through. Breast milk if anything would prob. taste the same while being better health wise. Ask any doctor, they'll tell you the benefits of breast milk compared to cows for humans.
Also how weird is it that humans are the only creatures on earth to do this. You don't see Cows/Goats/Raindeer/etc drinking from one another.
I'm not a PETA supporter or fan, just saying milk is gross if you really look at it. This is why I drink Soy![]()
Cows do actually and from what I've heard sheep do also try and suckle from each other even as adults. It's not something all of them do but some seem to have a penchant for milk. You can buy these little metal clips with spikes that look like nasty knuckledusters to clip onto their noses. It doesn't stop them from trying but no other cow will let them suckle. Or you can just separate the offenders from the main herd.

as long as that shit is cambodian
And you bathe in the blood of your enimies amirite? GTFO with soy milk![]()
Your logic is terrible. Trying to equate all our practices with other species is like the epitome of ignorant asshole. Yes, you don't see squirrels shopping in malls, you don't see gorillas dancing in ballrooms. There's alot of shit people do that isn't equivalent to something in the animal kingdom does, guess what? We are miles above them and attempting to simplify practices to justify them is about as reasonable as trying to fold a piece of paper 8 times.
Fuck PETA, I like Cows milk and find the idea of drinking some woman's breast milk repulsing, not to mention producing enough breast milk to even cover that much of a replacement is just stupidity. It's not weird that I think it's gross, it's normal. If you think it's normal to drink another human's milk there is something wrong with you, no normal socialized human being should want that. I'll admit I'm curious and I'd totally try it and if I liked it and could stomach the idea I might drink it, but the idea alone is repulsive enough for me to think it's a stupid conjecture.
People who drink real milk are unhealthy, fat Americans. Congrats on poor dietary choices!
I guess I have to make a serious reply for once, since you took this way to seriously. Was just having some fun while I'm bored on a Wednesday morning. Everyone was saying how PETA is fucked up, someone needed to have a different opinion.
- I wasn't trying to compare human practices to animal practices. I was initially going to talk about how milking cows is an archaic practice that should have died out awhile ago, but I wrote that entire thing up in about one minute, and didn't care enough to edit it. Plus, someone already quoted me and then I really couldn't edit it.I wasn't trying to make a serious argument, I could honestly care less who drinks what lol.
You think breast milk is gross (I agree it is), yet find hormone/steroid/blood/puss filled cows milk to be delicious? This old guy at my work used to tell me stories about how his uncle made him duck blood soup as a kid, he considered that a normal meal also, but you couldn't pay me to drink that shit.I like Cows milk and find the idea of drinking some woman's breast milk repulsing, not to mention producing enough breast milk to even cover that much of a replacement is just stupidity. It's not weird that I think it's gross, it's normal.
Yes, the best thing for infants is breast milk. Adults should only drink soy milk! If you drink cow/breast milk then theres something wrong with you!!!! (not really, just saying this for the sake of argument)If you think it's normal to drink another human's milk there is something wrong with you
I'm surprised people took this so seriously, yikes.
