My problem is the following. From the start of the game I've basically had my guys all focus on melee and not magic. So I don't have anybody that can really lay down the law with magic. Pagus has been sitting unused for a long time so I probably could toss him in and see what he can do. My biggest issues are that if I attack the plants nine times out of ten they are using Self Destruct III wiping out at least one union. If I leave them alone they are free to run around attacking any union they want with Spinning Lariat III etc.

Then on top of that the fucking melee groups will use Land Mine at the worst fucking time and wipe out another union and it's usually lights out at that time.

That's my biggest fucking complaint about this game. Get rid of the one fucking shot cheap ass moves that ruin an otherwise challenging fun fighting system.

To be honest, the way you describe it, sounds like you're experiencing the pains of being one dimensional more than the game cheap shotting you. I've pretty much been playing with a good balance with some characters going pure mystic, and some going pure physical and it's working very well for me. The game is still challenging but I've not run into the problem that you are describing.

You can use the Rush solo-grind trick to level everyone's magic skills, though it'll probably take a couple boring hours, but it'd be worth it. Put Rush in a party solo, go to Rebella or Blackdale and just kill everything in sight using Magic Arts only (try not to link anything). All your leaders magic skills was go up while in the reserves. Then you can use that one room in Robella with 9-10 Bugs and get your Arcana's.

In my first play through I was heavily melee based with little to no magic as well and found myself having a lot of difficulty starting around the last couple bases. After starting over and focusing more on magic, it's been a lot easier.

Now is it going to make a difference that I'm BR93 or will that still work? I know my guys are one dimensional but I have to parties that are set up to be my healing/raising parties. But I disagree, Land Mine and Self Destruct are extremely cheap. I was fighting things that I was getting the clean them up quickly and one used Self Destruct and wiped out two unions together. That's pretty fucking gay lol. And no soldiers just Rush in the party?

Rush only. Reserve leaders learn skills based on Rush's action usually (there's probably other things, but it's what people have seen the most direct effect). So if soldier kills the enemy before Rush gets to do anything, your reserves usually won't get anything. So look at your trees, go get 2-300 chain of Rush solo attacking with only Mystic Arts (you might want to equip some HP gear and/or +AP gear for this) then look at them again. They should have a lot more skills now.

BR won't matter with this. Any leader with mystic arts will learn skills in their mystic arts trees while you are doing this. I hope you've been telling your more magic heavy users to learn new trees when they ask (ex. Psionics for Irina, think she asks at BR85 - she can dish out a ton of damage, and Fatal Eclipse is just hax).

After you get your trees leveled up, you can go to AR and get actual stat ups if you feel you're not doing much in terms of damage, but you should be fine with just the higher level mystics.

Edit - The Rush solo grind will only level up leader skills. Soldiers only get skills it seems by them using the skills themselves. You can also do this with Combat arts btw...Get a 300 chain of Rush using only Combat Arts and all leader's will learn more combat arts in whatever trees they already have.

if your pagus has been on the sideline the entire time this is more than likely not neccesary as he grows while on the sideline much faster and having 90+ BR

Though Irina should be better cause her INT and psionics just completely pwn

you have to give it some time for bluff to raise though because itll be confuser doing good then when you get maledict itll be like omg 30k damage a unit then when you get fatal eclipse whenever you see that option you'll wipe the entire screen.

Well I went through and grinded a little bit but got bored. So I went to Mt. Vackel and made a few healthy chains before I went to the top and fought Heaven's Lord. I was able to get Sheryl up to Snare Trap IV. Then I went back to do that fight again. Was no trouble this time. I kept five unions active the whole time with David and Caedmon leading three man units. David was kind of a spare healing unit while Caedmon's was more of a hit squad. I would soften up an enemy union then have Caedmon's finish them off so I could keep a stronger union focused on stronger enemies.

I won't lie, I got lucky as balls. The second wave of reinforcements showed up with the Harpyrila's and the other three units of soldiers. I still had two unions left from the first wave and two unions of the plant monsters. And Snowblind came up for Rush. When it was done there were only three total unions left and all three were extremely weakened. It was just a matter of finishing them off. So I now have access to the last secret guild. Woo.

Anyone here had any luck with "The Lost" ? I have pretty much done everything to do in this game but he eats me everytime >.> getting tired of trying. (Oh yeah, when I decide to fight him my healing group usually wants to dd and my dd groups want to play with themselves.. that might have something to do with it)

I'm just now getting around to the DLC fights and haven't done that one yet. Actually, I had just beaten the 7 souls in Catacombs, then went to farm something real quick to try and make a runic vare, then after 1 spiritlord fight my 360 has apparently frozen at the loading screen to go back to the zone...Nothing I press works, no red ring or anything, drive opens and closes...it's just...frozen -_-. Last save was right before the Catacomb fight, but I really don't feel like doing that battle again right now...

    GAME OVER

Piece of shit wasn't even dead and he enthralled him anyways. Or is there a max entralls? I had one group dead after it attacked it twice.
I know this feeling... I like this game, but I also hate it. It's so very frustrating getting a turn, having 20 health left, but NO options to heal, or a heal only and stand there like a retard to get the crap kicked out of you...

Attack from afar? More like run straight in to the AoE and have ALL THREE PARTIES GET ANNIHILATED AT ONCE YESSSSSS! Yeah, I tried to make a mystic group, but they still insist on meleeing. No! No! Nononono. Use your fucking mystic arts! From a distance! Not under the huge damn hammer! While meleeing for 100 damage!

Pretty much bought this game as a way to waste time throughout the week until Star Ocean 4 is released. Glad I waited for so long because I was able to get it for $39 instead of a normal $60 release price. New, not used either.

So I attempted to kill the Eldritch Dragon in Fornstrand. Didn't work so well. I also attempted to kill the idols in Darken Forest. Also didn't work so well. The dragon I lasted for a long time but I couldn't keep up enough consistent damage to keep it going. I didn't even have him blinking red. The idols I tried today. I was able to beat the fire idol with no issues but the icy idol fucking pummelled me. Any tips for these fights?

I had already spent literally weeks grinding and taking my time with the game (I've been playing for the better part of the month) so after grinding in the Ancient Ruins I got myself up to BR122 with maxed stats and weapon arts for almost everyone except rush. My patience has all but worn out for the game completely but I beat Fallen, Fiery Gates, Jhana Royals, and Eldritch Dragon today, all on my first try lol.

I hope to be done soon but the allure of finishing every guild task and upgrading an Enchanted Demonblade for Rush might outweigh my lack of patience, at least for now.

Finally hit a rough spot in the storyline battles, got my ass handed to me by The Conqueror's forces in The Eagles Nest. That big horned dude is a pain in my ass. Taking out all the reinforcements was easy because I had Blackout trigger twice, which was super nice, but then the Horned dude busted out that catapult move with the other chick and it one shotted 2 of my unions.

I'm doing a 4-4-4 setup since my max is only 12, but lately I've been wondering if it's better to just to 5-5 and be done with it. I'm currently at BR45, I've read that most people win this fight at BR50+ so I might just have to go do some more sidequests.

I actually focused on him and let the chick do her thing. Everyone I had spoken to said he was the more dangerous of the two of them. Once he dropped she was killed pretty quick.

I just did that fight at around BR39'ish and had little trouble, though Catapult did kill one union and hurt another pretty bad. I made sure I had someone in every union able to revive another. Ran to their reinforcing normal unions first and killed all them -- the two bosses never moved to me until they were all dead. Focused on the chick first. With some good attacks, you can take her down in a single round preventing the Catapult, but he also does Hammerspin which can be devastating if it hits more than one union or even kill an entire union if it hits everybody in it.

I only tried it once, so maybe I will try it again before I go back and try to grind some stats. My characters have pretty good stats and leveled skills as it is, I just hope I get Blackout again like before, that made the junk unions so much easier haha.
