Fallout 3

Seriously, how is there not a thread for this yet?

Without any doubt, this is the game I am looking forward to this fall/winter. While I do have my concerns that this may turn out to be nothing more than an TES IV: Oblivion total conversion for $60, I can still see myself getting very lost and happy in the Fallout world.

Also, what system do people think they will get this for? I know I'll be picking it up for my PC, in the hopes that mods and editors are released for it like TES III/IV, but I almost want to get it for my PS3 as well for times when I just want to play casually or let my girlfriend play. (After seeing the demo videos she's become pretty enthralled in it too)

The old-world feel of it reminds me of Bioshock. Listening to old timey music and things like that. From the preview videos I've seen it looks they've hopefully diversified the NPCs. I know there's limitations, but it was so annoying listening to 2 NPCs talk to each other in the same voice and speaking from stock dialogue.

Yeah, I really do hope they took the time to expand their voice cast. I was actually a bit worried watching their latest series of 5 trailers and immediately recognizing the voice actor who portrayed the middle age guy who gives the demo player a quest to blow up Megaton; he did all the Imperial Male voices in Oblivion. I wonder if Lynda Carter is coming back for voice acting again lol

Nice hands-on-impression article by Kotaku on how Fallout 3 will be different than Oblivion. The write is not a Fallout vet by his own admission, but was a fan of Oblivion, so the article is more critical of the game systems than how it compares to Fallout 1+2

I have friends trying to decide between either console version and unfortunately owning the PC version as I do, I have only the internet to ask.

So far in favor of the 360 version:

Has achievements
Will get exclusive DLC

Honestly, I couldn't give a shit about DLC since I haven't even paid for a Guitar Hero song let alone any other DLC. The graphical issues are what get to me the most. Trophies aren't such a big deal either because it's almost guaranteed there will be a patch for them. Makes me glad I have a decent PC.

I have yet to encounter a single glitch/flaw in the PS3 version (note though that I'm signing out of PSN because of an apparent freezing bug from system messages, but otherwise, nothing), and honestly, if there's something wrong with the graphics in it compared to the other versions, I don't see it.

The PSN glitch will I'm sure be fixed in a patch, and other that, it's honestly not a big deal. Like 90% of games with "exclusive" DLC, I'm sure it won't even be released until well after the vast majority of the playerbase has all but forgotten the game (read : GTA IV).

This is just the usual of people trying to make one version inferior to the other to encite fanboyism.
