    New PC Assembly

While assembling my new PC from pieces, everything was going good, OS was installing. I figured I would go out while this installed, and came home to my PC off, and not turning back on.

When i hit the power button, it turns on for a split second, then instantly off. Not really knowing what to do I tried a couple things. First I tried pulling all hardware out except the board to see if it was a faulty video card, it wasnt. Now I'm left with a board / processor / psu. I pulled the 12V line out of the board and it now stays powered on, altho it cannot function like this. What do you think it is causing the problem? PSU / Processor / Board?

PSU doesn't have enough juice to power all the components inside? Give us your specs...

The only thing that confused me was the 2 - 4 pin hookups for the CPU, which the PSU had 2 which fitted together to go here.

DOA PSU maybe? Try RMAing it for a replacement and see if that works. Also might be the mobo as well.

I talked to another friend about this and he said he once had the same problem with a Gigabyte board in Vista.

He said his PC worked amazing until it decided to hibernate, then it would never turn back on. Although I did not actually see my PC boot up, he said it most likely got through the install, then hibernated which killed the board. He also tried everything possible, alternate power supplies with no luck. Replaced the MB fixed the problem. I could not find anything about this being a problem with the board, but today I will have my new board to test out and see if thats the problem.
