    Zelda: 4 Swords (Gamecube)

I've had this game for literally like 4 years, and have never played it multiplayer lol. I was wondering, if I wanna play it multiplayer with only 2 people. I just need 2 gameboy advances, and the wires to hook them to the GC?

Some guy at gamestop said I would need to buy the Link to the past/4 swords cartridge for each gameboy advance which sounds like a crock of shit.

Anyone know? The manual doesen't say shit in detail either.

    Thanks.

You just need GBAs and Link Cables. I've played it two player with just those, and I only have one copy of the GBA Zelda, so it's definately not a requirement.

Multiplayer in this game is like a billion times more awesome than single player, so have fun.

I don't think you'll need a cartridge for each game, but not totally sure. I've never actually played it.

The whole GC-GBA setup is a crock of shit. I bought this game a few years back when I had some cousins staying at my place for awhile, and had planned to make use of it's undoubtedly nice co-op play, until I learned that we'd each need a GBA with linkcables. I got rid of that game instantly. It could have been a great experience if it weren't for that gimmicky crap.

You don't need the cartriges. I used to play this all the time with three friends. You just need four GBA's with connecting cables. The awesomeness of this game with 4 people cannot be described with words. Especially if alcohol is involved.

GBA's here cost 20 dollars with everything at our local flea market. So for 14$ for a mint copy of Z:4 swords + 2 20$ systems, I can't wait to duo this game. (Its my first time ever playing.)

That's fine now but when the game came out it was just a headache to sell it to people (when I worked at EB). Talking to parents and telling them that the extra controllers they had wouldn't cut it to play multiplayer and everyone had to have a $125+ GBA to use as a controller was ridiculous.

Edit: Even though VG Cats sucks mightily now, this comic still makes me laugh.

There's some incorrect information in this thread; this ^ is correct.

The Legend of Zelda: Four Swords (GCN) doesn't need any other copy of any other game to play multiplayer. This game does require a GBA and a link cable for each additional player, but your GBA cartridge slot doesn't need any game in it. (That doesn't seem that gimmicky to me; I actually liked all the oddball accessories and console-handheld compatibility from the GCN/GBA era.) The GCN Four Swords also has single player content, while the GBA Four Swords mentioned below can only be played with 2-4 people. I'd assume multiplayer in the GCN Four Swords would be really fun, but I haven't ever played it, even though I have all the required accessories. I wish my friends liked good games.. '-'

The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past/Four Swords (GBA) has an entirely separate Four Swords multiplayer experience within the game; I've played the Four Swords content on the GBA cartridges with my roommate freshman year in the dorms, and it was really fun, albeit extremely brief. He was playing on a TV, (through a GameBoy Player with the GBA game on a GameCube) and I was playing on my GBA SP. Obviously this can be played with just 2-4 GBAs as well. And after you complete the Four Swords content, a new dungeon becomes available for you to enjoy at the end of A Link to the Past in single player, which was pretty fun as well.

Last question, can you use the DS for this game/or other GBA related multiplayer games on the Nintendo GC? I highly doubt it but its worth asking.

To the best of my recollection the DS is not compatible with any of the system link peripherals.

I'm a bit late on this one, but no. The only spot to hook anything up to the DS(lite) is through it's power input... and earphone jack.

    Only GBA & GBASP work.

On a side note, I remember playing this game. I also remember getting me & a friend stuck. Fire Wand + Small Area = Bad Idea :3
Lit us both on fire, and since it was like a 1x1 block (block & a wall), we'd keep lighting each others asses on fire... Was funny. My friends never let me have the fire wand again... or bombs... or any other thing I could use to hurt them.
I guess we just sort of lucked out. All of use owned GBAs and since I worked in Electronics, I could snatch up cheap link cables. And since we all wanted to play Pokemon(lol) and FF:CC, we figured it was a worthy investment. Still trying to beat FF:CC to this day>< (wtf...)

I rarely use my SP anymore. I either use the DSlite or Gamecube Gameboy Player to play GBA games. It hurts my eyes staring at such a little screen for too long.
