I agree that Bush is his own worst enemy in how he presents himself to the world. So on that level alone you can definitely get a negative impression of him.
On the other hand, actually reading up on his policies in-depth and the wealth of information detailing the behind-the-scenes decisions by him and his cohorts puts the proverbial nail in the coffin. Proverbial is a fun word btw.
You should definitely read more about 'these things' though. The most impressive thing to note about the anti-war activism during this decade is that people who were intimately involved in the anti-Vietnam War activism have gone on record saying our generation has been much more vocal/involved.
I remember reading that this was the first war that was widely protested before it even began.
The votes for Congress and the Senate occur at the same time as voting for the president in the US?
The entire House of Representatives is up for re-election every 2 years.
Senators run for office every 6 years and it's staggered so only about 1/3d are up every other November.
There are however vanishingly few properly contested seats thanks to the way districts get drawn within a state.
I presume that most Americans do not care very much for elections for the Senate or House of Representatives? Perhaps i am wrong, but it may seem more relevant, or at least it would if they didn't seem to be more concerned with winnings votes instead of listening to their constituents...
Elections for the president are important... but they just seem more prone to irrelevancies.
wait.. presidents are elected?
I always thought God annointed them...
Congress as a whole has about a 95% re-election rate, so it's not really anything to get too worked up about.
My thoughts on the debate: Obama rocked McCain's socks during the early economic part. He was well-detailed and came off as very honest while McCain seemed like he was just trying to survive that section. When it came to the foreign policy part I felt that McCain won. He was constantly on the attack and I think he looked very impressive when he was able to give very clear details about his experience and his knowledge. Overall I would give the win to Obama, though, because although McCain won the foreign policy part, Obama looked pretty impressive as well.
hi, I usually try to stay away from Gen. discussion and all it's political science majors but felt the need to comment here.
the question I want to ask the majority of this board that's fawning over Obama is; what exactly is it about this man that gives you the urge to pleasure him orally? I consider myself to be mostly conservative, but I don't consider myself to be a McCain supporter per say, I agree with some of the things Obama stands for, but you all know they're both politicians. They're both catering to their parties' concerns in this carefully orchestrated campaign. I've had the assumption for a long time that Obama will probably be our next president, and it's really of no concern; what exactly do you think will have changed in this country come 2012?
Honestly, while reading the comments most of you have posted during/after the debate you guys sound like a bunch of 13yr old girls writing in their diaries after getting home from a Jonas Brothers concert
Not much will change, but considering the circumstances, i'd rather vote for a Democrat with the way the Republican party is currently aligned.
Man we seriously need one of these updated and modified to be relevant to this election. anyone wanna take up the challenge?

ok ill bite, Just out of curiosity what is it you think Politicians do in washington?
And what is it you think McCain can bring to the table to help the plight of the working class that Obama can't?
Edit: if you say cut taxes you will lose any credibility you had.
