ok thats the 3rd time you've edited that gimme a sec lol..
politicians as in washington as a whole? they maintain the federal government's power and manage national defense, as they have for over 200 years
for the 3rd time, neither of them will drastically change anything. you seem to be arguing a point with me that I never madeAnd what is it you think McCain can bring to the table to help the plight of the working class that Obama can't?
Yeah, In my constant need to orally pleasure Obama I thought you were trying to make a point. my bad
My point is you seem to put down people that have faith in a system whether or not it works is up for debate although its not in my book. You cannot fault a "Lower Class" of people for believing that someone is actually looking out for their interests in Washington.
I agree with you 100% except for the fact that even Minimal change they will implement can have Dire consequences depending on who you support and who wins.for the 3rd time, neither of them will drastically change anything. you seem to be arguing a point with me that I never made
I think he's just really cynical about politicians and how much they will actually do in office. But I don't know how he can say that, when its pretty clear that the president actually does have some power to set an agenda, particularly with taxes and government spending. And in those two areas, there are fundamental, ideological differences between the two candidates. Those 'middle-class' Obama lovers that you are lumping together may just be acting in self-interest for lower income taxes. Or maybe they aren't all fiscal conservatives.
Of course, all this requires some faith that the president of the U.S. sticks with his most fundamental campaign promises and has the power to do so.
You're one to talk about arguing against straw men, given that pretty much every one of your posts here has been.
Edit: Rhinox, we have these lovely things called "bold" and "italics" for emphasis, you don't need to capitalize the first letter of Important words for No particularly Good reason.
Bad habit I have. Have a tendency to randomly capitalize words. You give me to much credit I usually capitalize words whether or not its important much to the chagrin of grammar hammers. Apologizes in advance cause I already know I'll be doing it again.
Plus I'm watching SNL not really paying attention lol
I'm just looking for some semblance of normalcy. I want a president who won't lead us into ill-advised wars based on faulty intelligence. I want a president who gives a shit about the environment. I want a president who cares about America's relations with other countries.
Is this a huge change? Your call. But it's good enough for me.
A president has virtually unlimited capability to fuck up the country during his term. I don't feel he has nearly the same potential to "do good".
I'm just looking for someone not to fuck up super bad. I don't trust John McCain not to fuck up super bad, I feel Barack has a much better chance of not fucking up.
Is that too much cocksucking for you?
Im not putting down people that have faith in the system, I have (reluctant) faith in the system itself; long before either of us were born both parties have gone to great lengths to maintain it.My point is you seem to put down people that have faith in a system whether or not it works is up for debate although its not in my book. You cannot fault a "Lower Class" of people for believing that someone is actually looking out for their interests in Washington
In the simplest terms: businesses drive our industry and we workers spend our lives "working jobs we hate to buy shit we don't need" to maintain the economy. that's the system... it's far, far from perfect but it's what we have, and that won't change one bit regardless of who's president.
to archibaldcrane: no you don't seem to have any spooge on your face >_> I pretty much agree with your post but I think the president's capacity to fuck-up or do good is equal, seeing as he's only 1 of 3 branches of government
yeah I'd say Bush drastically changed a few things. People keep forgetting that a President Obama would have a run on federal government with the House, Senate, and a couple SCOTUS appointments to make- that's a lot of potential. Problem is he's gonna inherit a ton of housecleaning, but we should see a basic return to "normalcy" plus some solid domestic changes including alt energy push, healthcare for the uninsured, and hopefully some education fixes including the community service college tax credit.
It's not my glorious proletarian revolution into socialist utopia, but agreeing with archibald here, it'll be good enough for me.
Where did this OTUS stuff come from anyway? I swear I only started seeing it, and only on these message boards, a few months ago. Is it the new hip thing in the blogosphere? Yes I know what it means
supreme court appointees, you mean?
yes Kwiji.
archibald: idk bro, I guess my first exposure to the acronyms was on the interwebs too, but they're pretty convenient because say you wanted to go with "SC" to abbreviate the court but that's also South Carolina, etc. POTUS I actually see as kind of redundant/unnecessary though.
If politicians do nothing worthwhile or have no impact, who is it that is responsible for keeping the nation running smoothly and reacting to problems as they come up? Who is doing the real work, and who hires them?
NWO and the Bildebergers
Don't forget the Carlyle Group
