Fair enough. It's entertaining to see two people that may or may not actually know what they're talking about, instead of one side completely owning the other.

Wow you're a fucking moron. I'm an idiot because I dont buy currency in rolanmart? How fucking stupid are you?
Now let me spell this out for you:
1. Those of us that didnt IGE our relics work for them
2. The high starting quest requirements to even turn in the alexandrites + the higher than relic cost at +4k each reduces demand, and while certain people with their dadies credit card may buy them up for more than that, those people will never finish their mythic.
Now I realize that after scratching your imbred pathetic excuse for a brain you got all confused on us here, so I wont hold it against you. But for fuck sakes, do be so fucking ignorant that you think anyone that doesnt jump at a bad deal is a moron. I buy my Alexandrites for 2k each, and I am in NO short supply for them. You can buy yours for 5-6k each and feel realllllly fucking good about it, but not all of us have IGE on speed dial.
Seriously, are you even listening to yourself? Fucking retarded.
Did you ever consider that these people you think are using "dadies credit card" might actually be members of very resourceful linkshells who are being sponsored?
And I'm not one to get offended by language, but really, shut up. It takes a LOT away from your argument. Vodou has made valid points, whereas all you're doing is throwing a temper tantrum.
What valid points did he make?
He said people that dont buy at ripoff prices are morons who are "afraid of being ripped off". He stated that being smart with your gil and working with friends to get good deals/suppliers is "stupid".
And yes, I completely agree that some people probably have LSs pay for their relic, namely Voudo.
And fuck off if you dont like my language.
Actually he said:
So he started with an insult and assumption that I for some reason was so stupid that I mistook deflation for paying less.Originally Posted by Vodou;
He then said:
Which makes no fucking sense, and went on to state this about people that work with friends, get good deals, and dont get their relics LS sponsored:Originally Posted by Vodou;
He then made a backwards argument about value on new items, when the point was already made that to be first, it is often best to be smart with your gil.Originally Posted by Vodou
Yes, some people will have LS sponsered relics/mythics, and yes those people can probably afford to pay rediculous prices. But for the other 99.9999 percent of people, it is just unwise to purchase these for very poor pricing.
My use of profanity is a direct response to his hidden and not so hidden insults and rediculous excuse for smart investing.
I really don't understand why you take offense at this quote, it's entirely true. All he's doing is relating people like you in FFXI (people who take longer upgrading their relic so they pay less money over the long run) to people who do the same thing IRL. It's a perfectly fine analogy, and it fits the situation.
Your priorities/values are such that it is more important to you to spend more time upgrading in the interest of saving money. That's fine. The problem is, you're calling people other than you who have different priorities/values than you idiots, morons, etc, which is a pretty ignorant thing to do.
Cool, except you're way overreacting. It's the other way around, too. You started the shit-flinging.
Also, ridiculous*

If you want to continue calling everyone names and claiming insights that others lack, then thats fine. I've made my points, which can be repeated:
1) The servers are an economy and people (as in RL) makes choices on when and how they will spend their money. There is no valid on singular way to do this since everyone values their time and pleasure differently.
2) Some people want relics faster than others and by paying more get to use them longer and earlier. Some people value their gil higher and wait longer until the prices are what they expect. Some people spend more time looking for deals and consider that a better use of their time than playing or using the relic.
3) I don't share your view of other players. I don't consider players stupid or morons or retarded because they don't do things the way you think they should be done. And I don't know, but I don't believe many players purchase gil to buy relics. I don't have a clue how much that would be in real dollars but it seems absurd.
Finally, you don't know anything about me or other players who have relics with regards to how we got our relics. If nothing else, drop this illusion you harbor.
1. Most people who buy for those prices will never finish upgrading.
2. Im saying it will take you LESS time if you are smart with your gil than buying at whatever bazaar price you see.
3. You are adding nothing to this besides 2 faced bullshit instigating.
No matter if you are a LS funder, a personal upgrader, or an IGE buyer, it is ALWAYS smarter (and often faster) to be smart about where and what you buy for.
What the fuck is the point you are trying to make. It has already been said that shopping smart doesnt always mean finish last. Take your pathetic attempt to instigate a bullshit argument elsewhere and try and upgrade a relic yourself(@ruin).
Vouch
Falls under the "Time and place" category. Sure , you can wait 12 months for your items, but some people don't want to wait 12 months, and are loaded out the pooper, and do NOT want to stay doing the repetitive task of seeking currencies for over a year when they could be enjoying their weapon at the higher price. No matter if you are a LS funder, a personal upgrader, or an IGE buyer, it is ALWAYS smarter (and often faster) to be smart about where and what you buy for.
Faster ≠ Dumber
Slower ≠ Smarter
Case = Dependant
Bynes are 5k, shells are 7k, o.piece is 7-10k
Alex is gouged to shit because Siren's endgame is shit and there are like 10 successful salvage groups. It's true that it's practically im-fucking-possible to get cheap currency here unless your shell is funding your relic, which I've only heard of 2 or 3 shells doing here, because, again, Siren's endgame is shit. I don't even see anyone WITH relic weapons on this server, save for some random mandaus/aegis/exca and a couple prominent apocs. 8 out of 10 relic holders on Siren are JP and barely even come out of hiding long enough to use said weapons.
Siren needs a new endgame plz, who will donate a heart? At least a spleen...
Generally speaking...
You can buy something for 2k
Or you can buy it for 5k
Time to upgrade is irrelevant. What do you feel about the person who chooses to pay 5k instead of 2k? Do you deliberately want to pay more for things, when you can get them cheaper at the same rate?
Whenever I see Alex's for sale at 4k or above, I talk to the person. Offer a solid 2-3k per ore. At least half the time, they agree and give them to me at the price I offer.
1. Until you're at that second quest, you can't turn in Alex's. Meaning they take up inven space. A LOT of inven space.
2. Very few people are at that stage. Thus, only a few people are really buying.
3. There's a ton of Alex's entering the economy each day. Much more than will be used. Thus, there is way more supply than demand.
Basically, if someone is starting their Mythic weapon now, and buys casually and cheap, they'll have enough alex's by the time they are at that step, or will a month or two after (provided they are running salvage).
I don't usually like to call things or people stupid, but deliberately paying more than you have to, is pretty damn close.
this is your main argument and it's completely wrong. You need 30k alexandrites. I'll be conservative and say only 50 people are actively trying to upgrade. To complete that you need 1.5 million alexandrites.
Now let's say there are 1000 new alexandrites everyday (also fairly conservative). 1.5 mil / 1k = 1,500 days. 750 days if you double the in. And that assumes no alexandrites are wasting away in a bazaar, in MH, or on weapons that won't ever be upgraded.
What the fuck does Vodou being a economist have to do with this argument Demo? And you calling anyone retarded is a fucking joke.
Also to LW:
Yes, it is all situational. There isnt really a "right" answer here. I am not going out and preaching that prestige items and being the first is completely worthless, nor am I stating that anyone that completes quickly is a moron. I responded to posts claiming spending 200mil+ on mythic is silly, which it is. The guy that pays 3 times the price for a new car to get it a month before everyone isnt awesome or really cool, he is a jackass, overcompensating for other things.
Everyone will find their affordable zone, and develop a good system to obtain alexandrites and pay for them, the price will vary, but anyone snagging up every alexandrite they see for 10k will most likely never finish their quest.
over-generalizing, straw manning, throwing a temper tantrum
yep, it's all there
quote for truth. I even approach ppl with them for 10k in bazaar. I ask everyone with alexandrites what their price is. I often make offers for quantities of 20+ that can range between 1.5k-3.2k a piece depending on my current gil situation. I buy until my threshold is reached for the day and that's that. that being said I also have found some regulars that sell for 1k-2k a piece directly to me and pol me when they get more.
oh god I won't say it's all in your last post. It's all in the thread.
Vodou came in here level-headed and stated his opinion after you over-generalized and called a group of people "fucking retarded." You then throw out insults, tell him he's retarded, and restate what you already said. You aren't stupid man, c'mon
edit: throwing around more fucks than shumue also won't get your point across better
