reliable wifi card
i know i know ZOMG KG IS ASKING A QUESTION
but this is hardware i know little about, what im looking for is a wireless card for a desktop ... it will basically be only used for streaming video/audio, so it has to be reliable and stay reliably connected. it has to support linux, and it has to be semi cheap...
what am i using it for you ask? its gonna be a media center pc in my new apartment, downstairs in the living room... the internet is upstairs so cabled isnt really in the picture, though i wish it was

You could always build your own antenna out of a Pringles can: http://www.3nw.com/pda/wireless/wi_f...gi_antenna.htm
That aside, internal cards aren't necessarily better than USB dongles. This used to be the case, but advancements in technology have bridged the gap. No matter which kind of technology you go for, you want to make sure it has a good chipset. The Atheros chipset is one of your best bets, and is known to work across many an OS (including Linux).

call a electrician and ask him to run some cat 5e or cat 6 and you'll be much happier imo

i can run my own cat5 dude, but this is an apartment... not my own house

Most if not all wireless dongles should do the job. Just don't expect it to be 100% reliable.
