Bleh, 1.30 still isn't out? I haven't played since the week it was released, patiently waiting for these fix'em'up patches. During this time, however, I've amassed about 7 other games I need to play through before I go back to SOCOM. =( Come on /6.

Has anyone here tried playing this on a Nat3 connection? Unlike every other PS3 title I own that runs fine online (minus ability to host games), Socom is just unplayable, in the network-stability sense.

Is this worth the buy? From the interface it looks like GRAW 2 copy and that isn't a problem really but do I need a mic for it? I can't find anymore copies that come with the mic and only used copies.

I think it's worth it, but a lot of people don't like it for whatever reason. There are a few bugs, but the gameplay is really good IMO. If you can rent it, you may want to try it out for a week or two before throwing down $60. There's a new update coming out in January that's going to fix a majority of the bugs and add a lot of nice enhancements that'll only make it better.

You don't need a mic. I have one, but rarely use it because I'd rather listen to music than some 12 year old trying to act tough.

Easier to buy from the playstation store? Also I've been having problems installing demos and such. I bought wild arms a few weeks back and it wouldn't install so I don't want that to happen if I were to buy it from the store.

I know it's my own fault but i'm pissed i got this. I never even checked to see if it was online only cause i didn't think they wouldn't make single player missions and never bothered to read up on or scan the box to see where it said multiplayer only.

now i'm stuck with this shitty game and no receipt to return it

I kind of agree and I kind of don't...Honestly the gameplay is decent but I didn't think it was worth playing over Call of Duty 4. SOCOM 1 & 2 (because 3 doesn't exist) were both pretty fun for their time, but SOCOM for the PS3 didn't seem to upgrade more than the Graphics. Now don't get me wrong, it looks fucking gorgeous but it plays like a 2002 SOCOM with better Graphics.

While I understand that changing some of the core of the game would deter some SOCOM Fanatics, the finding of rooms/servers is antiquated as far as online FPS go, imo. One of the biggest problems with Gears 2, even though I don't do Gears 2 multiplayer, is the fact it takes 10minutes to find a match. In Call of Duty 4, finding a game and forming a group with friends takes all of 2-3minutes if they're online. SOCOM's doesn't necessarily take ages, but the UI just felt so out of date when I played it I went back to COD4. I used to love SOCOM 2 with a passion and did years of Game Battles etc, but I've been disappointed with the new SOCOM.

I'm hoping the game they teased at E3 (Massive Action Game?) or something, comes off better. Oh, also it should be stated that I don't like most other Call of Duty games, (even World at War is kind of meh). Granted, Infinity Ward did 4 and none of the previous titles for the series, but Call of Duty 4 felt to me what a SOCOM on a Next-Gen console should feel like. I wouldn't say go out of your way to buy a headset for SOCOM. If you've got an old PS2 headset use it, if not don't bother. The game isn't worth the $10 you would pay on top of the Bluetooth PS3 headset. Here's hoping they put out another SOCOM over the life of the PS3 so I can get back to my Navy Seal'in. (And for anyone who loved SOCOM 2, Chain Reaction was fun as shiiiit)

I'm pretty sure Zipper is working on another Socom game and that MAG game you mentioned. I think I'm more interested in the MAG game than the next Socom though.
