D-pad to zoom is classic Socom. If you played any of the other ones it should be second nature to you. =P

Played for about an hour last night, much better! I'll definitely be getting on more.

Socom:Confrontation is pretty tight. I'm really happy with it, most of my issues have been resolved and people who whine about it don't know what they're talking about. Exploding propane tanks, cars, etc rule. Intractable environment is a must with the Next Gen systems. The lobby list can be alphabetized, contrary to some people's idiotic ramblings. D-Pad lean rules, now I can lay on my side and not worry about a tilting controller messing me up.

Its still not as good as Socom 2, but I don't think I'll ever enjoy a game as much as I did Socom 2. That game was incredible and if not for the glitches, probably would still get 20,000 people online today.

Can't wait to see what Zipper does for Socom 4. If Slant Six did this half assed, I can't wait to see what the original team does with their first shot at the PS3.

The x FRAGGED y comes out slow doesn't it? Also I've been playing this like an addict. Never got the chance to play the original socom games online on my ps2 so I'm taking advantage of this. And you rank up from the obvious rank games right? I'm horrible as fuck with no respawns and ranks don't have respawns so I'm pretty much going to be low in the scores sadly.

Yeah respawn does not count for rank. Only ranked rooms. I wouldn't worry about your rank, its for people who get too into the game or are too vain about themselves or need grounds for them to act concieted on.

Also, yeah, in hectic rooms (especially respawn) i've noticed slow fragging messages, but its no big deal, its not bad in round play which is when I'd care to know if a teammate died. Thats Confrontation-exclusive, older Socoms never had that problem, but this IS trying to load/handle a lot at once, and Slant Six did the best they could given that they were peddled down this project as a bridge to the next Zipper Socom.

Socom was a great shooter, but it would have been a lot better in the hands of other devs. They changed the game from Socom to a mix of Call Duty/Ghost Recon-clusterfuck.

I just wrote this up, hope it would help some of you, if you ar einto Trophy Hunting

Hi, I thought I should post some of my experiences that I have gone through with Socom that have helped me so far 50% (trophy-wise) this game

First and foremost you will need some buddies to help out with some of the requirements

Go and finish all objective categories first

    Plant/Diffuse bombs, Escort/Kill VIP's, Extract Hostages, Capture/Defend Control Points

    Planting/Diffusing Bombs:

Best way to get this done is to have 1 friend join you in a server (low population), within a 4 v 4 demolition room

The way you do it is, 1 person plants, 1 person diffuses for 4 rounds, then, when you switch sides, you reverse
The person diffusing gets to kill the guy planting to help you further along on your requirements
(Good idea is to get the melee kill requirement out of the way)

Just rinse and repeat, you will start accumulating other requirements along the way

    Escort/Kill VIP's:

Go find a 8 v 8 Medley room that has Crossroads as Escort

The person on Commando side will ask the VIP's to follow, take them to the white tank by the stairs in the warehouse where the VIP's are
(Postion all 3 near the tank, try to put them as close as possible)
The other person who is on the Mercenaries side should shoot the tank from the street area, angling the shot to blow up the tank
(don't get to close, cause the VIP's do run away)
If you need the explosive requirement just die with the VIP's, if not just stay back after positioning them

    Extract Hostages:

This 1 is the bane of all objective requirements
All medley rooms, have Extraction as the 2nd to last in the playlist

Best way to do this, is to find a room, you and a friend have to work carefully to get down the playlist ASAP
So you take turns skipping maps, to get to the extraction
I created a system called Quit-O-Rama, where 1 person quits all the games when they start to get down the playlist to the Extraction, once @ Extraction, you take turns to get the hostages to safety, then when its finished, just get back to the top of the list and the other guy quits all the way down to keep it balanced and along the way, you knock down other requirements
(Best room to this is the Extraction on the Urban wasteland map, have C4, and it gets done quickly)

This 1 is the most time consuming, remember 150 extractions are required, so if 4 rounds, 3 Hostages per, you would need 13-14 Quit-O-Ramas to get it done for both of you

    Capture/Defend Control Points:

This 1 isn't that hard due to you can amass a good amount through 1 game

Best room to this 1 is the Desert Glory Control Point room, (it's the first 1 on the playlist, mostly always on the Medley 3 room)

Just take turns grabbing control points, 1 person grabs 5, the other 4, then switch, do it for 8 rounds, so after 1 full game you will have 32 points captures
After game is over, both leave lobby, the playlist resets, rinse & repeat, might take 4-5 games to get it done
Defend control points is easy also, just meet @ 1 location, 1 person captures a point, when the other 1 goes into motion to capturing it, just kill them
Best is to win all 5 rounds, then the other guy gets his 5, then do it 1 more time a piece and you get your 10

All other trophies will start unlocking their requirements, when finish up these objectives

Weapons work the same way also, best to do is 1 person win all 5 rounds and the game, then let the other 1 win the next just rinse and repeat

Fastest to get done is Pistol, longest is SMG/Assault

By my ranking its (Fastest to Longest) Pistol > Shotgun > MG > Sniper > AR > SMG ( get Headshots ASAP, just to get them out of the way)

It's time consuming, but if you manage your time and your gameplay, the trophies start becoming easy

If I helped you out, Your welcome, if you see a better way to do it, please don't hesitate to post, if you need to flame/critique my method/template please go ahead

I'm just trying to help some players who are looking for solutions to getting trophies for this game

Hope it was a good read

    Happy Hunting on your Trophies

Oh Also BTW: There is a saying by one of the great Trophy Philosophers/Achiever of our time, by the name of chucknorris078, that will be quoted for the ages, "Trophies- Once they pop you can't stop!"

nice trophy guide. i think escort/extract is impossible without using a controlled method like this... it just doesn't happen in real games. One question tho, if someone joins your room you're basically screwed cause they aren't going to play nice. would suck having to switch rooms every 30min

    go to a low server
most people leave if you ask them nicely

theres still douchebags who make it their lifes goal to bother people just because they think they're gods gift to the gaming world, or just can't make/find friends to help them out, so they resort to the old-school internet ways of griefingenuity/trolling/harrassing

I really hate people who join a small server, which has like 20 people in it, then join a room, which is being occupied by 2 people then rant about its cheating/stat padding/boosting, being on their high morals about it, yet theres countless other servers they can go to, funny they join the same type
