Silent Hill: Homecoming

This is due out today. Anyone picking it up? Any reviews up yet? . anything? I have limited access to those kind of sites at work. I will probably be picking it up on my lunch hour. Been looking forward to this for quite some time. It was developed by a NA team, not Konami of JP, so I am crossing my fingers.

I'm buying it, no questions asked. I've always loved SH (besides 4 and I never played the PSP one), and I've always found it to be a lot scarier than RE. Just remembering those damn kids and bird things in the first one is enough to make me crap my pants.

As for reviews, OXM gave it a 6.5/10, but here are two readable reviews:

this was my plan as well. I've been kinda bummed out recently by spending 60 bucks for "short" games (heavenly sword, force unleashed, etc) so I'd really rather save my money for lengthy stuff I know I'll love (despite being a huge fan of the silent hill series) like Fable2/Fallout3 and picking up games like Silent Hill Homecoming after the reviews are in and I can get it cheaper used.

It looks amazing though, although I think my taste in Survival Horror might have waned a bit.

Yeh latley ive been super critical of paying 60 bucks for a game, I took advantage of some nice gamestop trade ins a few weeks ago and paid off the games im buying this year, im going to hafta pass over quite a few things but nothing important, I can wait for some titles to get cheaper. Having to take care of my dad so cant work atm so I hafta be selective.

I have most games w/ the exception of the room. This is my favourite horror series (fatal frames second). However, I'm skeptical about this game because: a different studio got its hands on it, and looks like shiet. Makes me sad...

1up gave it a B, and they're the ones I usually trust the most. However, it all comes down to you own opinion. Like I said in the Too Human thread, people put too much stake in reviews.

I know a lot of people didn't like that game, but I think I put at least 60 hours into it. If I went by reviews, I would have never picked it up.

I'm loving this Silent Hill. Played every Silent Hill games and i'm really enjoying what this game brought to the table. Feels alot like the movie, definitely a good game.

Being able to interact with the environment is a really nice feeling. Controls are more to my liking too.

Just finished this a little while ago. Gotten 3/5 endings, working on the last two right now. Definitely a worthy addition to the SH franchise. As always, the plot revelations at the end are very awesome.

IMO, SH1 > SH3 > SH:H > SH2 >>>>>>>>>>>>> SH: The Room. Never played Origins.

I've always found it to be a lot scarier than RE.

Scariest video games I have ever played:

Resident Evil 2: first true horror game I ever played, nothing can ever compare to how scared I was overall playing this game.
Fatal Frame 2: masterpiece of horror... scarried the crap out of me it has such a freaky vibe... sad they are making a new one only for Wii.. boooooo

Other games have had their moments but nothing can even come close to those 2 games. But yeah.. aside FF series, nothing has even phased me like the old school RE games did
