Places in Manhattan with Stuffed Shells/Chocolate Covered Strawberries

Pretty much as the title says. Going to be there on Friday for the girlfriend's birthday and she mentioned she wanted some of the above. No clue of a restaurant that would serve stuffed shells, and the only place I know that serves chocolate covered strawberries is the Godiva store, but the prices are insane. (Hi2u 10 bucks/strawberry)

So yeah, anyone know of a good place you'd recommend? Preferably between central park and penn station. Most of the day is probably going to be around times square, so I dont want to have to hike all the way down to the village or something, unless it's worth it.

Can't really say for sure about the Stuffed Shells, but I know Dean & DeLuca has great chocolate-covered strawberries (or at least most of the time they do). They're not nearly as expensive as Godiva (at least as far as I remember) and there's several locations. You said between Central Park and Penn Station, so you could go to either the one on 46th or the one on 48th.

And if for some reason that fails, there's also Black Hound Bakery on 2nd and 11th. But that's in the Village obviously, so really it's only worth it if you're SOL with D&D.

    Hope this helps.

If your going to NY for her B-day and wanting to make it special, w/it sounds like you are, then 10$ per choco covered strawberry is gonna be the least of ur expenses. Though you can always go out to dinner w/ her and find a way to surprise her w/the desert when you get back to her place... I personally reccomend surprising her, it won't make a difference in the short term but when she thinks back about the evening it will definantly leave a strong impression

That's a good suggestion Khalil, but I dont know of any place around us that sells the strawberries either. :/ Time to do some more research!

(Didn't even think about getting them around here tbh >_>)

    • Prep Time
    • 20 min

    • Level

      Intermediate
    • Yield

      1 pound chocolate covered strawberries

    Ingredients

    • 6 ounces semisweet chocolate, chopped
    • 3 ounces white chocolate, chopped
    • 1 pound strawberries with stems (about 20), washed and dried very well

    Directions

Put the semisweet and white chocolates into 2 separate heatproof medium bowls. Fill 2 medium saucepans with a couple inches of water and bring to a simmer over medium heat. Turn off the heat; set the bowls of chocolate over the water to melt. Stir until smooth. (Alternatively, melt the chocolates in a microwave at half power, for 1 minute, stir and then heat for another minute or until melted.)
Once the chocolates are melted and smooth, remove from the heat. Line a sheet pan with parchment or waxed paper. Holding the strawberry by the stem, dip the fruit into the dark chocolate, lift and twist slightly, letting any excess chocolate fall back into the bowl. Set strawberries on the parchment paper. Repeat with the rest of the strawberries. Dip a fork in the white chocolate and drizzle the white chocolate over the dipped strawberries.
Set the strawberries aside until the chocolate sets, about 30 minutes.

where are you staying in manhattan? you will be a 10 min walk TOPS from a place to buy strawberries. Im at my girlfriends place as we speak on 109 and broadway (you wont be around here im guessing) and there are 5 places within a 1 min walk i could get strawberries.

I would actually advise you to just go to a nice italian restaurant for dinner. They may not have stuffed shells, to be honest you aren't gonna find a lot of places that have that exactly on their menu, but they will have something she will like (probably more than stuffed shells). i've been to many, many restaurant in NYC since my gf moved here a year ago, you will find something. If you are looking for a inexpensive but great value just walk around hells kitchen and read the menus they have posted outside. pastas will be roughly 13-15$ and entrees around 20-24, so you can get dinner for around 80$.

and dont worry about the desert, any decent italian restaurant will have several things on the desert menu better than boring old chocolate strawberries.

If the girl wants chocolate strawberries get her chocolate strawberries. "This is better than what you asked me for," never, ever works on the girl.

If you have the space/equipment to make them yourself, do so.

Asked the folks, and they said this place was good, near where we were going to be, and they have stuffed shells.

I actually found a place around here too thanks to Khalil's advice and think I will follow through with that, because there's 0 risk being a 10 minute drive and I can pick it up.

Still looking for other options you would recommend though!

Edit-For Andarvi, I'm not staying there, just going there for the day. I live on long island so it's only an hour train ride.

Edit-FUCK she just mentioned cheesecake instead of the strawberries.
