    Virus issue, help please

just booted up my laptop, turned on winamp which wouldn't open due to a virus. AVG wouldn't couldn't remove the virus, so i just uninstalled winamp, which left behind 3 files

    Elevator (app)
    elevatorps.dll
    nscrt.dll

i deleted those files, and just did a re-install of winamp.
AVG detected a virus in the file winamp\zlib.dll
    Threat name: trojan horse SHeur.CLZE
when winamp detects the file when i try to load it up, i cant put it to the vault, or delete it

Download and install Spybot Search & Destroy, see if that can do the job. If not, try running AVG in safe mode. Some viruses are easier to remove if your scanner picks it up in safe mode, where processes are harder to run.

AVG did an update today that caused a false positive with winamp.

    http://forums.winamp.com/showthread.php?threadid=298064).

Even if you download a fresh copy of winamp, it'll detect the same file as a threat. To bypass this until AVG updates again just do the following:

    1. Right-click AVG icon in lower-right corner of screen.

    2. Click Open AVG User Interface.

    3. Click the Tools menu, then click Advanced Settings.

    4. Click Exceptions under the Resident Shield section.

    5. Click Add Path.

    6. Navigate to C:\Program Files\Winamp (or the path where you've installed Winamp)

    7. Click OK.

    8. Click OK.

    9. Run Winamp.

If winamp still crashes due to the quarantined zlib.dll file, then go to the Virus Vault History in AVG and restore the zlib.dll file.
