But honestly, the government doesn't interfere with people that wish to commit suicide. Yeah it's illegal, but if the person does it, there's nothing they can do about it.

I can't speak on peoples mindset when they're considering suicide, but my instinct tells me that if someone is really set on doing it, they're not going to make a public spectacle out of it, they're going to do it and get it over with. Public suicide/attempts seems to me to be more of a cry for help in most cases, although I'm sure there's some that have done it publicly to make a statement.

I realize that I'm severely dumbing this down, but I think that the basic points apply. I don't confess to be a psychologist but I've known people who have made suicide threats, and they were all cries for help, and I've known of people who did commit suicide and they just did it, didn't tell anyone or anything, so my experiences causes me to draw those conclusions.

At any rate, in this case, the hecklers were way out of line and I hope that police can find some charge to stick on them, or some other bystander follows them home and beats them into a pulp. There's no call for that, and I swear if people minded their own business more often this world would be a much better place.

Sorry for the guy who died, somewhat and yes, very cruel of the people around him to egg him on.

But thankfully he didn't try to take anyone with him, as with a few cases in/near London:

1. Parking a car on a railway crossing/line, which is the line for high speed cross country trains. Train rammed into the car at over 100mph, killed the person who commited suicide, killed the driver of the train, killed a bunch of passengers because the train derailed.

For those in the UK, this was back in 2004 on the "London Paddington to Plymouth" train.

1 day after a woman try to jump off a bridge right before London Paddington. This made every train coming in or out of Paddington stop while they tried to remove the woman. Paddington is a relatively big station, and at the time I was there, people were scared due to the incidents of the car at the railway crossing, I got on a train where it had like 10 carriages, the one at the back was CRAMMED lol. They had to tell people to move down the front.

2. (This happens a lot) Using the underground Tube trains in London to commitsuicide. Basically hopping in front of the train as it approaches. This basically shuts the whole specific "line" down for the day and causes a ton of aggro from everyone who could really care less. The driver isn't harmed physically, but mentally.

I'm not going to pretend that I would have A: goaded him into jumping or B: cared that he did for more than 15 minutes afterward, but I find it kinda ironic that the internet is somehow taking the moral high ground here. I don't see how this is any different from doing the same shit here except you're physically removed from the person you're berating. At least those people were honest enough to show that they didn't really give a fuck if the worthless asshole lived or died and had the balls to show it in public.

To be fair, he was probably interrupting traffic. They have every right to express their outrage by telling the guy to move it the fuck along. You know how it gets, you get up at 5am to drive somewhere that's 45 minutes away normally just to get there by 7 and you're riding a caffeine/sugar high that has your veins bulging out of your skull just to get a good start on the day. Then some asshole who probably just got dumped after his midnight shift at McDonald's and can't deal with not having someone to bitch to daily thinks that the only answer is to end his life. If the cops weren't there, you can be damn sure someone would have pushed him off, and I wouldn't entirely blame them.

Human beings are only as worthwhile as they think they are, and if he thought his purpose in the world was fulfilled, who are we to argue? The most you can ask is for him to move the fuck along, cuz the rest of us still have a place in the world.

Before you get on me about how callous I'm being, how am I supposed to empathize with someone I've never met or seen? People I pass by on the street could die once they pass out of my sight, but I wouldn't know to care, since they do not affect my life and having passed beyond me, there's nothing I can do. Also, suicidals are inherently weak, and therefore worthless. Well, in the social sense anyway, I'm sure they're feeding worms somewhere...actually, with the way bodies are disposed of, I doubt even that. The whole REASON I named my character *Poof* was because my first job was black mage. That was like 5 years ago before I really understood the whole job thing. One of my reasons for changing servers was to have a less "black magie" name.

I just wish people would stop trying to pretend that Poof and Gaea are almost two different people. It's the same person and the character's name is Gaea now.
