The DSi - $179

• - 3.25" LCD display, 17% larger than NDS Lite
  - 3 megapixel exterior camera, lower resolution interior camera
  - new SD memory card slot for playing back music, images, downloadable content
  - removal of the GBA cart slot
  - built-in internet browser and built-in Nintendo Zone internet information service
  - built-in music player
  - chassis is 2.6mm or 12% less than NDS Lite

Nintendo also confirmed a number of new services for NDSi:

• - The virtual money "Wii Points" used by Nintendo's Internet service will be renamed to "Nintendo Points", you can use Nintendo Points on Wii and DSi
  - Nintendo will launch a new NDSi online shop to sell NDSiWare downloadable content
  - The NDSiWare price will be ranging from 200, 500 and 800 Nintendo points
  - First time NDSi users who visit the NDSi online store will receive 1000 Nintendo Points for free, offer ends March 2010.
  - Nintendo and McDonald will launch a new "Nintendo Zone" information network service
  - Nintendo Zone will be built-in to the NDSi, user can launch it without additional settings.

Personally, I feel like this is the DS that should have been made in the first place, but the lack of a GBA port does suck. Also, I kind of wish they had just gone ahead and announced a real successor with a stronger graphics card, etc, instead of another version of the same system, even if the features are way better.

Random thoughts: Monster Hunter 3 is also gorgeous. I'm not into Punch out or S&P really but they look nice. Wiispeak bundling with Animal Crossing CF interests me, the game looked good in motion. Not sold on the DSi since there's no GBA slot. I had no interest in "Let's Tap" or whatever it's called til I heard the music, now it might be a day 1.

Ive neglected to buy a wii for a long time because I hate th controller and not enough games for me to buy it, Ive always loved the monster hunter games, so I guess Ill have to buy a wii next year when monster hunter 3 releases, fuck you nintendo.

I personally prefer when systems I don't like/want release enough stuff on them for me to warrant a purchase, instead of never. Of course, I always wait til it's cheaper regardless.

Has there been a list released of the planned Wii-Made GCN games? I've seen trailers of Pikmin and Donkey Kong Jungle Beat so far. I think I'll definitely pick DK up as long as its not the full $50.

The trailers of the games they put out for DSi and Wii looked pretty good, although it would have been a bit better if half of the trailer was something other than "hey, look at this random camera-based sharing game!" And what the hell happened to that single-player Crystal Chronicles for Wii? Did they cancel it? I see that DS/Wii combined one, but the single player one they announced a long time ago looked pretty good.

They're slow to bandwagon anything...they just do it cause they think it ups their stock in cool...and then the implementation is incredibly shitty and rather than get mad at them fan boys just laugh and go "Oh Nintendo... at least you tried your best! And that's all that counts!"

*cue cheesey laugh from everyone as shitty music starts playing and the credits roll*

I'm not surprised they added some new gimmick. And I look forward to it being a useless POS.

I also dont own a cellphone, camera, or music player. So sounds pretty good to me.

Well, I don't LIKE it by any means, but I think a lot of people whine about it more than they should, especially since most fighting games are not friendly with online. I just find it extremely mediocre. If it had been done right it really would have been my GotG, but online can't really replace local multi for practice purposes thanks to random latency issues, and of course it's a pain having to call someone or post/send a mail to set it up. A one on one channel would have also rocked.

As for the DSi, I would have been far more interested from the get-go if the camera had been a bit stronger, or they had announced a solution to playing GBA games/other attachments already released for the GBA slot. I played Pokemon Diamond and Pearl a TON and will likely play Platinum even more, this is a serious concern for me. I find it hard to believe they would totally ignore it since there's some very big games released that make good use of it (several million sellers anyway), but they haven't said anything yet. The other stuff is really nice but just fluff if my essentials aren't there.

I haven't seen the list anywhere, but I've heard people say they saw Metriod 1 and 2 at least. Wind Waker is also a high possiblity.

Bringing back the ranting on the lack of GBA slot, I saw the other day on the Marta (Atlanta's public transportation rail system) someone using a Gameboy Color. It made me think: "Damn, I really want to play my old GB and GB Color games... they really need to put all the slots compatible..."
