General Tips for FFXI

Hold down ALT while on the rmap/bmap/cmap/any map to scroll faster o: it scrolls the whole map instead of your cursor.

Also, just to add to this. For PS2/PC controller users. Hold down "R2" on your controller to move quicker with the cursor.

Not sure if these have been said, I think they're commonly known;

If you type during the downloading data screen while you're zoning, everything you've written will still appear after you come out (I think this only works if you were already typing before you zoned)

If you dismount a chocobo a second before you zone, you won't get the animation of you dismounting but you'll still zone - nice to shave off about 5 seconds.

It should be common sense but if you're arguing with someone and trying to put across a point, use correct spelling and grammar. I'll side more with that guy that says "You have no idea what you're talking about." opposed to the guy that says "u dont kno wat ur talking about lol", I just won't take what they say seriously.

Seriously, even if you are too stupid to set up its full potential, just load it anyways to make use of the typing features it provides.

the example on the first page about auto translate party member names: useless with SC, dont even need to finish typing there name.

How many people stay at the default 50%? I personally always zoom as far out as possible.

WoW has an add-on that lets you zoom out much farther than normal, I wonder if the Windower guys can do that? BRB going to post that there. Or maybe Aikar will see it here and respond to the idea!

Not possible, has been talked about multiple times in the past on the Windower forums. It would require a modification to the current engine in order to even be workable. So yeah.

That's built in to wow itself by blizzard, it's just a console command.

Tip for the PC users - you NEVER need the mouse. Anything that can be done with the mouse can be done with the keyboard. If you aren't sure how, just ask. The keyboard is faster 99% of the time.

If you are using the mouse for anything else, you are slowing yourself down. Learn the keyboard shortcuts!

Nope. It works like this; you can toggle the max distance you can zoom out with a slide bar in video settings, however you can set the max higher than standard options allow by setting it manually with a console command. The add-ons you're talking about are basically just inputting those commands for you.

I think those are the max values. You can zoom out pretty far with standard settings set to max, so there aren't many situations where you would want to bother really. Only time I want to zoom out that far is in malygos phase 3.

Kind of a no-brainer, but in a fight like the last ACP battle, if your roll is to Voke/Kill adds, it's much easier and faster if you engage the main boss from a distance, then change target and voke the adds... probably useful for several fights that I'm not thinking of right now.

An example would be the Memory Receptacles in any promy.

I do the NPC promyvion quest each week and farm 30 strays to max out my NPCs reward. I use this technique to engage the strays as rapidly as possible.

Need to help somebody find you in a "No Map" area? For example, you found the Register Lamp in Nyzul Isle and need to show others where it is...

Pull a monster and call for help, and tell them to run to the monster on their radar.
