NFL Week 5 - And then there was 3

OK, so maybe we seen the Giants coming (probably not), but if you would have told me that Buffalo and the QB dumpster fire that is the Titans would be undefeated going into week 5, I'd have laffed. Moreso, if you told me the Colts would be under .500 and not have won a home game, I'd have fell out of my chair (figuratively!). Onto the picks!

Tennessee @ Baltimore - Upset! Baltimore Defense is every bit as ridiculous as Tennessee's. Baltimore had a tough loss to a good defense last week and I think that will prepare them for this week. I see Baltimore's defense shutting down all aspects of the Tennessee Offense. First to 10 wins!

Kansas City @ Carolina - If Kansas City defense steps up, I think they have a chance, but their (KCs) passing game is so abysmal that they throw to one receiver more than Romo throw to T.O.. Carolina is clicking pretty well, I'll take them.

Chicago @ Detroit - I think this will be very very close. I think Detroit could pick up the pace with the largest monkey that franchise has had off their back. Still, I can't pick detroit!

Atlanta @ Green Bay - I haven't heard anything about the Roger's injury. He's playing right? If not, shift the bold over to the ATL. They are as shallow as any team in the QB position. If Roger's plays, I expect him to return to his week 1-2 form.

Indianapolis @ Houston - Indianapolis halts Slaton and throttles Houston by a large margin.

San Diego @ Miami - Please don't make me regret picking against my team again. I hope Miami wins, but San Diego needs to continue to win...

Seattle @ New York Giants - Key injuries for both teams, but the G-men are deep, at home, and playing really well. Probably a big week for the Giants backfield.

Washington @ Philidelphia - If Washington wins this, I'll start to buy into them. I know their only loss was against the consensus #1, but I'm still having trouble with them. You can't put 4 teams in the playoffs, someone has to go!

Tampa Bay @ Denver - 65+ passes against the weak ass Denver defense? Doubt it. Denver needs to step it up and what better time to do it than against a Journeyman QB. Still think Denver allows over 20 but Denver wins with another 30+ point outing.

Buffalo @ Arizona - Think this one can be close, but the injury to Boldin will slow Warner down a bit and Buffalo's defense finishes it off. Buffalo in a rather low scoring affair.

Cincinatti @ Dallas - Dallas, off a loss, against a QB whom I can't name. What's the spread? Take Dallas!

New England @ San Francisco - Matt Cassel starts to open up after a week off and probably studying a ton of film and getting in more reps. New England begins to catch up in the division.

Pittsburgh @ Jacksonville - Pick'em for me. I don't know who wins. Is Parker going to be back. Pitt will slow down that jacksonville running game and make Garrard win it. Game of the week in my opinion.

Minnesota @ New Orleans - Brees is going to light up that secondary like a Hanukkah candle. I think Peterson could possibly throw up 200+ yards, but I don't think it'll be enough to win.

jax > pitt. willie out again and mendenhall on IR is bad news, they had to resign davenport, gross. jax at home really doesnt have much of a home field advantage but i still think they will be able to run well against pitt and should have a field day on big ben who hasnt gotten any sort of protection in the last two weeks.

If Palmer plays I see a close game with against the Dallas secondary. Plus I'm interested to see the impact of Henry and Benson.

If he doesn't, I'm going to try to go in to work or some shit.

This one has me worried. As of yesterday, I was under the impression that Boldin was going to play.

Terrence McGee might not play with a sprained MCL, which means Warner can open this game wide open on the Bills secondary.

Arizona also plays really well at home.

I'd take Arizona. This one has "upset" written all over it.

Pitt also lost their starting RG. I don't know how good he is, but that can't help their running game.

    I say jax by 3-7.

    Edit:

Idk how well the Steeler's lack of any real offensive line will hurt them against the Jags. Jacksonville plays one of the most vanilla defenses in the leauge and rarely like to beat a team with crazy blitz packages. (from what I've seen at least) Also, i'm not sure how well Taylor/Mojo-jojo run against a 3-4.

I still think it'll be a close game but the Jags'll find a way to pull it out.

Yeah the Steelers being down Mendenhall and Parker is bad bad news. Not to mention that Roethlisberger is still suffered from that hurt arm as well.

Yeah Buffalo and Arizona SHOULD be a good game, but every time I get the Cards credit they go out and fuck it up. I heard Bolden has a broken sinus and he is still in alot of pain from it, being in a contract year and adamant about not coming back to the Cards I can totally see him sitting out to get close to 100%.

We loose to a good skins team and our defense played horribly and we didnt give the ball to barber nor jones and only lost by 2 and now everyone thinks they can beat us, defense will play much better this week and we'll win by 3 TD's.

im persnaly looking forward to the titans and ravens game, I call upset and a game game of field goals, ravens 15 Titans 12.

Yeah, for me, Buffalo/Arizona is my toss up game along with the Tennessee/Baltimore game. I do like Jacksonville moreso than Pittsburgh though. The Steelers have so many injuries, and I'm hoping the Jags can move the ball better on em. I'm going with Arizona if Boldin plays, but if not, I'll probably switch to Buffalo. That and Arizona is decent at home. The Tennessee/Baltimore game comes down to the better defense/more mature QB, and I'd point to Tennessee. They are insane on Defense and I think Collins would make less mistakes than Flacco.

I'm taking Phili over Wash as well, for the reason of Phil being able to put up more points against Dallas then Washington did.

Cowboys D played like shit last week (For example, Westbrook can't get 100 rushing on Cowboys but Portis does? Which do you think is the better back...), while Redskins corners played amazing. Redskins played their best game and still only won by 2, good for them.

I hate Roy Williams and all, but him being out last week hurt our run defense big time.

You're talking strictly running here? Portis.

I agree with all your picks, I think Jacksonville is not as banged up as the Steelers, so the Jags will win. Unless Moore goes crazy and get the Running game going for the steelers.

The thing is, the Jags give up the 8th most points to a fantasy back (meaning they clearly do give up some plays to a RB), so Mewelde Moore may have a breakout game, but when it comes down to it, I do think Jacksonville holds on. Could be a shootout, and by shootout, I mean in the 20s.

Man, what does it take for people to come around on the Skins? LOL.

Things are clicking in Ashburn (Redskins Park) and Landover (FedEx Field). I'm taking them over Philly even though they are dogs by the line. It'll be a close game, I'd venture to say the Redskins will be behind going into the 3rd or 4th quarter, but they will come back around and win it @ Philly. Fans will go apeshit and pour beers on Portis's mom like they did in the past. Love those classy Philly fans.

I'm not saying the Redskins suck either (just that Cowboys didn't play like they did first 3 weeks), they are top5 in the league. NFC east is dominating but I don't think Eagles will make the playoffs this year either, they are so injury prone it seems.

You seem to have failed to put "(minus one game)" on the top 3 categories. The 1 less game for yards and points per game helps Baltimore in those categories a shitload.

Baltimore also has 3 starters out on defense including Rolle and Landry. Tennessee is better and healthier.

the top three categories are averages and not totals so its not a HUGE difference. i think both defenses are at the top of the league but the titans are healthier and more capable of the big play. minus ed reed i dont feel the ravens have a lot of big play guys.

i predict haynesworth actually eats flacco midway through the second quarter and craps him out by the end of half time.
