Why is whether the characters are cute or not anywhere near relevant or important?

Because thats how I choose my main party... aesthetics > functionality!

Lets put things into perspective:
#How many ppl play Galka's?
#How many ppl used Quina as one of their main's in FF9?
#ect... I can go on but too lazy!

Except that Quina is fucking OP in FF9 if you are doing a low-level game.
Not to mention that Galka is fucking awesome @ melee & tank jobs (which make up most of the jobs in FFXI)

The main girl looks annoying like sophia annoying (or w/e the girl from 3 was) -- hopefully she wont be like that cause I'm probably going to end up using her

With those standards you would probably never be happy with the roster.

Personalities aside, the characters look fine. Generic sure, but ugly, surely not.

I used Quina... mostly because I'm a completionist and I wanted to have every blue magic. My main party for endgame more often involved Eiko/Steiner/Freya because holy and shock were both OP if you overleveled, and white draw could usually return enough mp to use them every battle.

Good lord the model for (what I assume is ) the main character is horribly ugly. It's like Claude but.....fucking ugly as hell. At least the female characters looks somewhat decent.

I'd like to know who's doing the art direction on this...first time I watched the trailer, I loved the scenarios, the ship models and the envoironments....then they showed the character models and it was just ".../facepalm".

This game looks more and more fun the more I see of it, I seirously can't wait for it to come out...but I'm not holding out as much for another totally sweet ninjaish chick (like Nel <333333), but I suppose an archer chick is kinda cool too.
