There is a penalty actually. They lose their souls to you if you kill one. Granted, some people invade after they have used up their souls to prevent this.

I still haven't tried yet, but it's my understanding that you can't control who you connect to.

I thought this was the case, however, there was one time when the same person invaded me 5 times in a row back to back. I couldn't tell if he was just unlucky or if I had a stalker on my hands. It was irritating.

Well, I know you have to be within a certain level range of the person you're invading, so that a level 100 guy can't go gank level 10 nubs. So maybe you were one of the few people online within that guy's level range.

I've also read that you can't get invaded while you're in soul form.. and since I stay in soul form all the time this would explain why I haven't been invaded yet (and why you might have been, if you kept living)

Thanks for the help Ceph, just downed the plasma boss, the combat in this game keeps you on your toes, Ive gotten the back stabs down as well, loving this game.

Yeah just wait til you farm up 50k + souls, die to a boss, then die again before you get back to them... it'll test your patience

I wish you could deposit souls. I know you can with the soul items but the actual currency not the itmes.

That explains why i haven't seen any yet also. I think I prefer playing that way lol

Speaking of invading. I was moving to a game on 1-3 as a summon and I load everything up fine. First thing I see is a red colored player with like 10% health blowing it past me and the player that summoned him almost right behind him. Guy hit one of the sharp corners and got backstabbed for the kill.

One of the most hilarious things I've ever witnessed in this game.

From what I've gathered looking at the special edition guide, the best way to get my CT up would be to get invaded and kill the phantoms.

Do I lose my human form if a phantom kills me? Cuz that'll just be a giant pain in the ass.

Yes you do lose your body and you have to reclaim your souls just like a normal death. And I said that earlier Just camp black phantoms. Weekends seem to be the best time to do so.

Yeah I was just hoping to find other ways that I could do on my own time and not have to sit around waiting for a phantom ;/

Plus I have no idea how it works. Do they just start at the beginning of the level and look for me or what?

They pop around the archstone of the current area you're in and seal off the others. You can't leave till they die or run away or you die. When it happens you get a big message saying they have invaded so you'll know when it happens. Just keep in mind that normal enemies won't attack them so sometimes they may try to ambush you in the middle of you fighting enemies if you aren't careful when they invade.

For me I just hide in a spot I know they have to pass eventually and ambush them myself. If you get the graverobber's ring that will help you a ton with this since it makes you invisible to them from afar or something. I've seen them pass right by me several times with that ring on.

Went to Toys R Us praying that they might have it so I could get the buy 2 get one free deal and sadly they didn't. But while I was there an older lady was trying to buy a game for her son and asked me about it. I told her that I'd look it up on my Ipod to provide her with more information. Whipped out the Ipod, turned on the internet, only to forget that my browser was still on Jenna Haze sucking a big black dick. Fuck was I embarrased.

Found the game at Game spot though and will be playing tonight.

Yeah I have that ring. Im gonna have to try it this weekend. Someone told me 4-1 and 4-2 are good places since a lot of people farm there. Thanks for all the info.

4-1 and even moreso 4-2 would be ideal i would imagine. Seems like i have played this game in Soul Form for about 98% of my playtime, so no invasions (also the fact that don't seem to stay connected to the server for long). When I personally farm 4-2 though, and AM miraculously connected, it is pretty much a steady stream of player ghosts from the Archstone to the Reaper and everywhere in between.

Seems like the place is always being farmed by many. I would think that given the nature of the place, with the long narrow corridor leading to the Reaper (with no mobs save a merchant NPC) it would be ideal for some ganking.

I killed about 15 black phantoms in 4-1 myself and quite a few in 1-4 but now I have a question... Can people still invade your game if you've cleared an area completely? Like invading you in stonefang after you killed the demon dragon at the end? I've noticed I've only been invaded in areas where I haven't killed the boss yet.
