I hear 3-1 has a merchant that sells something that helps you get more souls. How far in is it? 3-1 looks like a level I want to avoid for a while. Went in and got shot, my health went down to 20%.

It's pretty far in, but not too difficult to get to. You can shoot the Mindflayers with a bow and they'll die pretty quick without getting to counterattack.

Still though, the ring of avarice costs 50,000 souls and you get it for free in 3-2. So it's kind of a waste.

What bow do you guys find to be best? So far I've been using the Compound Bow (I believe that's the name) that you find in 4-1. I was told that once you level it to 10 it is the "Best Bow" but I've been getting other good bows like the White Bow that are much more powerful. What makes the first so much better?

Thanks for the info on the Merchant. I saved up 50k just for it, but now that I know you get it anyway I'm not sure if I should wait. Really had no plan to do 3-2 anytime soon, just wanted to farm. Hows the level?

3-1 and 3-2 are more mazes and puzzles than fighting off monsters. You really only fight the Mindflayers (which are super dangerous if you try to melee them, but easy for an archer to pick off) and some weak demons in 3-1, and mostly gargoyles in 3-2 which again are relatively easy to pick off with a bow.

Tip for fighting the Mindflayers, try to never let them have line of sight to you. They cast Soul Ray from long range, and will try to hit you with a ball of electricity at medium range. If that hits you they'll run up and one-shot you.

There's another item in 3-1 (Silver Bracelet I think?) that also gives move Souls per kill.

Long Compound bow is best if you can upgrade it to max.. which costs a lot and eats at your upgrade ore stockpile. White Bow is good enough if you don't want to waste materials. However, White Bow requires 30STR and 24DEX. And Dex has little use aside from ranged attacks.

I always choose female characters because you get to see different character models, armor models, and sometimes unique items than those who play the male characters (I'm guessing about 80%+ of players). My brother-in-law looks at me and says that I'm a gay.

I don't regret not being able to wear the Silver Armor you get after 5-3. Binded armor is suiting me well!

May seem to be a stupid question but I wanted to take precaution. I had not consumed any of the souls because I know I need some for weapons, but the basic ones like unknown Hero's Soul and such, can I consume those or will I need them?

Story Souls (Unknown Soldier, Legendary Hero, etc), the items you find on normal mobs, are for soul 'cash' only. The Boss souls though, yes... store those until you figure out what you want to get with them Spell/Miracle/Upgrade.

I use a +5 Sticky Compound Long Bow. It gives a E rated Strength Bonus and an S rated DEX Bonus. Base DMG is 68 without bonuses. Compound Long Bow +10 would have 90 Base DMG and C/D STR/DEX bonuses. I haven't upgraded a CLB that far but the +5 Viscous seems quite nice.\

EDIT: Forgot to say, in addition to the better DEX ranking, Sticky (it was called Viscous in the Asian releases) also adds Bow RANGE. Stated on the wiki that at +1 it adds +5 to Bow Range).

From Compound Long Bow +3 you would then need the following stones to get to +5 (max upgrade) Sticky:

25 Shards of Spiderstone
9 Chunks of Spiderstone
1 Pure Spiderstone

I would say it depends on your stats. For me, i have 32ish STR and 32ish DEX. Someday... would be awesome to have 99 STR/DEX but yeah. If your DEX is low and going to stay there, and your STR is higher, the +10 LCB may be better than Sticky.

I just realized why there were bloodstains in the Nexus. Kinda pisses me off tbh. No way I could do that, would take the fun out of the game.

You mean suiciding your body form there? Yeah, I have done it a couple times to be honest. Why? Because due to my lack of ability to stay connected to the damn servers... i can't count on invading or killing invaders to raise/lower my tendency. So early on yeah, i took a dive in the Nexus.

I really have my fingers crossed that after the maintenance tomorrow i can stay connected. Seems like I am just missing a huge chunk of the game being forced offline 90% of the time.

It's a glitch, create two players, jump off the top with one and collect souls with the other. Repeat over and over to max out your level.

Oh shiii, I didn't know about that. That does indeed seem lame as hell. Half the time just the easy farming in 4-2 and 4-3 seems a little cheap XD.

EDIT: I actually don't understand how that would even work Null? How would one player get souls from the 2nd in the Nexus? I thought that was a non-invadeable area.

Oh lol, I've killed myself like that a few times because killing people as a Black Phantom is fun. Oh and what the shit, my music is all creepy now after I soloed 1-4 boss.

Yea, Nexus music sucks after you beat that boss. I really liked the other music better.

It doesn't seem THAT hard to level now, I don't feel I've been playing much and I already had to restart my character but I'm in my 70s already.
