I find it hard to. If they're moving the arrow rarely hits, and when they're still, it's always to the point where I have to shoot 3-4 arrows to get the right angle to hit them at their distance, at which point I end up having to dodge their attack screwing that all over, and then I get to sit on my ass again waiting for them to stop.

Btw, in 4-2 after the second grim reaper you kill...

How the frig do you deal with those guys who laugh and are essentially invisible right prior to doing a back-attack for nearly all your cling-ring'd HP?

They go down in one hit, or you can just wear a thf ring and they will ignore you completely.

As for the invisible people, when they laugh, run forward then turn and raise your shield. When they hit your shield they become visible. Or, just run all the way through. The first time I went there I never had to fight anybody, just ran straight through and never got hit once.

That's generally what I do. I decided after a while that the risk just wasn't worth the small reward from killing them.

For the Manta run, I usually just pop Warding and run straight through. If I'm quick I can get through with one cast, but I usually wait in the middle for it to wear off and cast a second so I dont get combo'd as soon as it wears off.

For 4-2, God's Wrath or something similar will probably reveal the little guy before they get to you. I just stand there shielded and wait for the laugh, then roll/turn around.

Oh I didn't even assume you were talking about the Mantas in 4-2 lol! I have always always had THF ring on in there, so barring maybe 1 or 2 of them they all leave me alone.

I only ever bother with the first invisible giggler, just like Null suggested. Wait for the laugh then flip around and shield up. Once you can lock on to them after they hit, it is easy easy. The other two will leave you alone if you don't go after the lowbie grass items in the back.

I'm curious now, if you die as a blue phantom assisting another player, will world tendency change any? That's the only thing I can recall doing outside of my normal means in world 4.

I just noticed some areas being blocked in 4-1 that weren't before when I originally did the level, so the tendency has definitely shifted lower since I started getting my ass handed to me by the mobs.

If it is the case, anyone able to recommend me an easy way of getting it back up? I'm going to try and blue phantom 4-1 for someone since that area is a joke for me now.

I guess I should rethink my plan here. What's the best way to deal with the WT events? There seems to be multiple means, one begin either go pure WT, do events, then repeatedly kill yourself and use the epheremal stones, or go full BT, do events, then kill the world boss which supposedly grants pure WT for the area.

[EDIT] Well, I just helped a guy with 4-1, didn't see any visual change on the WT for world 4, but it seemed to have done the trick. Am back to one & two-shotting mobs here.

[EDIT2] Trying to understand the wiki here. For instance, if I were going for the sword of searching, the special notes column shows this for the flamberge.

+0 - Sharp
+3 - Quality, Mercury, Tearing
+6 - Moon, Crescent
+8 - Large Sword of Searching

What does that mean specifically? Do I upgrade the sword normally to +8 and then I get an additional upgrade path to the sword of searching as well?

Oh hey, falcion can upgrade to that too, and my current one is a +7....

Being or summoning a blue phantom has no effect on world tendency, but online in general seems to mess it up really easily. I've been staying away online because randomly I'll have worlds go from pure black to neutral, even without logging out in the nexus. As for those upgrades, it means that once you upgrade it to +3 with sharp or hardstone you can take a separate upgrade path to quality/mercury/tearing and so forth for the rest. To get the Sword of Searching you need to upgrade a weapon that's at +8 but the actually sword unfortunately can't be upgraded.

Also, I have to say I've been in love with the Bramd for PvP. I know a lot of people ignore it because of its ridiculous weight, low stat mods, and low base damage, but it swings pretty fast and has good rangel. Using it 2 handed, you can do 3 swings in quick succession, first usually breaks there guard and the second sends them flying half way across the map.

Whenever I wanted to do anything with WT what so ever, I logged off and played the game offline. Playing online always messed up my WT. Annoyed me to no end.

Is it just being online that messes it up, or just the encounters with other players? I haven't really had any problems until recently when I joined a couple guy's games and that was it, and I'm always in soul form so I've yet to be invaded once in the game. I may as well get all of the WT events that I can get done on my first playthrough so I can ignore them the next run around, which will hopefully prove to be much more entertaining without the checklist of crap-to-do.

As far as I know, its just online. When I was focusing on this game I just turned off my auto log off and played offline until I got what I wanted out of WT.

I've had the tendency of world 4 go from pure black->neutral during a single play session without logging off. I'm almost positive its not random or online related, but triggered by something besides killing the demon or w/e.

All I did was farm the first reaper and jump off the ledge a few dozen times, trying to catch up to a friend so we could co-op.

Whelp, that's WT for World 3 done. Took me a few tries, but I got Maneater down finally, just had too many stupid moments where I positioned myself badly and it knockbacked me off the ledge. ;/

3-3 boss was a joke, so I'm assuming the boss will summon a BP regardless of level as the guy backstabbed me from the start of the fight and it only took a tiny tic off my HP.

Anyways, am I right in assuming WT/BT events involving NPCs can only be done for the one side? IE. I rescued an NPC in WT, so he wouldn't show up as a BP still if I were to change tendency to BT, right?


On a side note, got my first pure moonlightstone just a short while ago, so I'm happy for that. Need to get my large sword of searching completed fast though before all my lizards stop respawning....

Nope, you can get both white and black tendency events from NPCs, even if you kill them in 1 form.

3-3 can be a real bitch depending on who you get. Its pretty much a crapshoot online, players who know what theyre doing can kill you as soon as you load through the door. I usually make sure I have Anti magic field and Warding, and try to peak through the door to see their gear.

If I can't guess their setup I'll usually pop AMS and walk through the door and hope they're the firestorm zerg type, which makes them easy pickins.

Is it me, or is the best means of dealing with lizards being thief's ring + distance + White bow?

Seems half the time I try to kill them via melee, they either:
a) See me ahead of time and disappear come the first strike
b) I swing to strike but I keep missing due to their tiny height/sword-bounces-off-something
c) Run off a cliff to their death, along with the loot, and me with it.
d) I kill it near a cliff and accidentally kick its ragdoll off the cliff. (glad that wasn't my game when I accidently did that >.> Ain't I such a helpful Blue Phantom)

Am able to one-shot the ones in worlds 1 through 3 so far after doing some ore farming, hopefully the same can be said for worlds 4 & 5 at this point.

Sniping is the way to go for most spots. Though there are some exceptions where you can just run up and whack because the lizards will just run into a corner. And God's Wrath is definitely the best strat for the nest in 2-2

Pure black WT lizards in the later worlds can take quite a few hits though, so a shot with a bow isnt guaranteed to flip them over and they can still get away. I like to Clever Rats+Morion Blade+Thief Ring+White Arrow snipe w/ Viscous+5, and make sure the job gets done. Especially for those pesky Pure Darkmoonstone lizards in 4-3.

I've killed some people as 3-3 boss. I always kinda feel like a dick if I win but most of the people I've encountered weren't trying to make it easy for me so I was just keeping up with tradition.

I just can't wait to get my tendencies done with so I can finally experience some BP fun prior to NG+.

Now if only I could get a damn chunk of sharpstone to drop from these pickaxe miners so I can upgrade my sword to +8 so I can make it a searching sword.

[EDIT] Aaaargh, didn't realize I need to have 4-2 beaten for the soul to give to Ed so he could upgrade my weapon. Really not sure how to spend that particular soul now given it only applies to the current game, and now further ones....

Is the sword really that worthwhile, or should I just put it towards a Miracle/Magic?

If I were you I would just wait until I get the chunk in NG+. No reason to farm a low drop rate when it'll come as 100% loot in NG+ (in 2-2).

Which chunk, the one to upgrade to +8 which I already wasted 2 hours getting to drop once in 2-2, or do I need another for the Sword of Searching?
(I can't find a page on the wiki that shows what's needed specifically to upgrade to it other than needing a particular god soul)
