Your best defense in this is not to get hit at all. Not being a smart ass either.

Oh thank god, managed to quit the game via XMB fast enough after accidentally attacking Filthy Man in 2-2 as I was trying to kill some friggen bugs.
Hate how you can't make up for friendly-fire in this game.
And yay, 8 lizards killed on pure BT w/ sword of searching, and not one pure. >.>
I think I'm going to finish off my lizards, finish off the BPs for pure BT, and say screw it to the primeval demons (since killing BPs will fuck up my world tendency, and I don't have enough stones to get it back down for all worlds, nor do I want to lower my CT for invading). Starting to get bored of this playthrough, and I'm not really in the mood to farm all the shards/chunks I need for the upgrade trophies while the game is still easy.
Playing Demon's Souls = Fun. Farming in Demon's Souls = not fun. Will enjoy myself more doing multiple playthroughs instead for common shards versus strictly grinding at it a la MMO.
You can buy the eyes in the nexus for 50k. That way you can get back down.
As for pure, I've never got them in 2-2, always off the lizard in 2-1 that I mentioned.
If you get a ps3 slim it is very easy to quit if you make a mistake since you just have to press a button. Then you never have to worry about missing it or even corrupt files.
How is the Slim any different with regards to button pressing? I could just as easily hit eject on my Fat.
At any rate, 50k souls is a fair bit of farming since I'd need about 15 more, would rather just pump that into more levels to make NG+ a little less rough.
(hopefully level 90'ish will be a good enough starting ground)
Are there any particular weapons worth upgrading via stones over another? If I'm going to aim for trophies, may as well put it into stuff that's usable, rather than just grabbing whatever works with whatever stone I need to upgrade with.
Doubt I can get pure white CT via the 4 named BPs I got left, so hopefully there are player BPs waiting for me in 1-4 since it's the only uncleared zone I got left. >.<
Would love to get friend's and foe's ring out of the way this run.
Believe me, the button on the slim works much much faster then the fat. Stopped playing on my fat all together because of this game.
As for weapons the number one imo is compound which I believe you now have. This is mostly for farming, at the 90s you should be able to rack in 50k every six minutes at the very least.
I'm guessing you have sword of searching done for the ores. After that I'd go for Mor. blade as it is extremely helpful with farming as well. I normally go into 4-2 as this.
Equip the blade you got from 4-2 so it ticks away health, plus the clever rats ring, plus the mor. blade. I run forward and let one of the flying things hit me and with the sword chipping away at my health it quickly dips below 30%. Then I run and one shot the reaper, you should be able to two shot that anyway without these things, but that set up is mainly used for the skele. Then I can quickly go finish off the skele in two or three shots as well. All of which takes two to three minutes at 18-19k each kill.
Or of course you could farm the sky in 4-3 but I'm guessing you still might want a pure bladestone so it would be best to just farm the skele for both the stone and exp.
I make 13.6k souls a run which takes me 90 seconds, which includes the death guy, the red-eye skeleton, and 3 normal skeletons, with avarice ring on.
Already got Sword of Searching, Sticky/Viscous Long Compound +5, and Morion done. I just melee the skeleton normally since I don't see the point in having to get my health under 30% every time I respawn in the map. (I just suicide to make it quicker, rather than waiting on two loading screens)
I've been thinking of working on my Magic stat once I finish my melee ones for this run. Does the +100 power make much a difference, or will I have to really pump it some? I wouldn't mind me a Soul Ray that didn't suck for damage, but it's hard to tell if it's worth the effort with my current stats. It's like I got no focus going on other equipping large weapons and running naked speed. I kinda got this ghetto RDM thing going on.
My stats are probably a little weird, but this is what I got going:
LVL - 90
VIT - 20
INT - 18
END - 30
STR - 30
DEX - 24
MAG - 10
FAI - 24
LUC - 14
[EDIT] lol, I just kicked the shit out of a BP who didn't realize my currently equipped sword was pure magic damage. He was trying to turtle with his shield. And nice, don't need to head to nexus to see CT changes....I'm starting to glow now.
And there goes another one who spammed this large AoE fire move, guess that was Firestorm. Took awhile to kill him, he kept spamming grass. I should find me a good interrupt/guard-break weapon for PvP that doesn't take a year to swing.....
Going afk while in body form but be an unnerving experience. Least the game saves exactly where you're at if you quit. I wonder if the players mind it that I'm basically farming them by hiding behind a pillar right where they spawn. No fun for them since they're not fucking my gameplay over.
[EDIT2] Woot. Friend's Ring, that was easier than I was expecting. That just leaves Foe's Ring and that one from the NPC in 5-2 which I fucked up for this run.
[EDIT3] Uh, Clever Rat's + Morion is suppoed to be +80% damage no? I'm getting results of +300-400% damage instead, not that I'm complaining. Hitting for 800+ damage is fun (over my usual 150-200 on normal mobs), but feels broken.
Nvm, I did the math myself. +50% on Clever Rat's, +60% on Morion. Morion's +60% is calculated first, and then Clever Rat's +50% on the result of Morion's attack increase, making for a grand total of +240% damage on my main.
I'm wondering now though, when wielding my bow 2-hand, does my morion's attack get combined with it? I check my stats page and the attack on my bow only raises 1 attack when it's ready for firing.
[EDIT4] Starting to see why I shouldn't be online now for WT events. World 2 just went neutral for no reason when it was pure black the other day.
Yeesh, was 1-4 boss supposed to be a pushover?
At any rate, time to plummet my CT (guess I'll kill the NPCs in world zones first, then BP it the rest), assassinate some dudes, and kick the last bosses ass. Finally got all the damn WT events out of the way. I really should have did pure BT first, as it's a joke to get it to pure WT after killing BP & Primeval....., just glad to have all that shit out of the way for NG+ at least. NG+ should be a blast when I have nothing to worry about.
(other than ensuring I let Ostrava die before my eyes this time)
[EDIT] Oh fuck me, didn't realize the middle of the Nexus stays open after you view the last stage. Just fell to my death like a noob. >.>
Whelp, game beaten at the 59 hour point, all I have to say is...
Spoiler: show
Is there anything new I should expect in NG+, or am I good to go off everything I know based on the prior run?
(eg. new mob placement to mess me up or something, or new mobs, etc)
Seems my WTs transferred over also.
[EDIT2] Fucking lol, Ostrava went down quick to the first blue-eye knight. Saves me having to lower my CT even further. Not going to be fun getting that back up to pure white for additional soul form HP.
Old King Doran down, and with that I finish my Ring collection for a beautiful gold trophy. Now to grind boss souls.
Hit SL 61, wearing some of the binded armor from Executioner Miralda, False King was pretty easy overall, I don't have the Thief Ring because I haven't progressed far enough into the game to get it the second time, first time isn't possible as I believe the NPC that you rescue to let you into the door behind the red eye knight in 1-1, died or something (i rescued him twice), and he appeared as a Black Phantom in 1-4 and I had to kill him, but anyway i wasn't able to use the cheating method with thief ring + bow and arrows, but overall he wasn't very hard, just had to dodge his charge move which is fast as bleep...
starting to really like this game a lot more than i did first starting out
Oh man, I upgraded my guillotine axe to blessed+5 and it is an absolute monster. Sort of surprised no one really ever uses it, it swings as fast as a sword and doesn't rebound off shields, and every hit counts as a direct hit (master ring works wonders with it). It's nice to have a weapon that really competes with Northern Regalia finally.
It seems alright overall, but in terms of PvP its short range will be the death of you.
NG+ is going so-so, I'm surprised the difficulty ratched up more between 1-1 & 1-2. Tower Knight is a good reminder as why I kept proceeding through this game. Sure, I died to him, but as usual it was my own damn fault.
(tried to keep behind him when he was backed up against a wall, horrible idea since it gives me no rolling room, but my ass handed to me on a platter)
Are the bosses health insanely high in NG+, or is it just me? I've been using Soulbrandt due to my CT being pure black (will be fixing that the moment I got enough stones handy for PvP), and it's taking quite awhile for them.
Any news of DLC for the game or a sequel yet?
I wouldn't mind seeing the outside area of the Nexus also, which the creator wanted to have at some point, but dropped the idea come budget time.
Anyone near lvl 90 that's free for letting me steal some easy weapon-upgrade trophies off of?
just got invaded for the first time, on 4-2, and it was 4 back to back invasions, killed the first 3 easily, and nearly killed the 4th but they were using some fire spell, couldn't tell what it was
thief seems to really excel at PVP, it wasn't really any challenge killing those 3 players and nearly killing the 4th, unless they were just not very good or something
where do the colorless demon souls drop the most frequently?
I think I'll be getting this for X-mas. I personally can't wait. D:
Whelp, I'm at a loss as to what I should focus on stat-wise now.
Stats:
Spoiler: show
I was considering focusing on a more magic build, but that'd take a shitload of souls to pump into Magic to make even the most basic offensive spell worthwhile.
There isn't really anything stat-modifier wise that my current gear demands, so lately I've just been putting levels into VIT for HP, and Endurance for holding heavier shit w/ naked running speeds.
On a sidenote, I just backstabbed a BP for his entire health bar right as he invaded for an easy 56k souls. I bet he wasn't pleased. It's a shame you can't just invade a person's game from the portion of the map you spawned in (as far as fog is concerned), so you can hide in a spot and not be spotted until they run by or something, rather than always at the start.
A Few more invaders and I'll be back to glorious pure white CT. Is there even a reason to stay at pure black CT other than the assassination sidequest? The lowered health isn't worth it.
