the 1st boss is easy, save the firebombs and turpentine on him since he's weak to fire.

Done and done. didn't even realized i picked up turpentine, or what it did. Pretty nifty stuff. Also broke my GD sword, damn prick. But either way, the first hour or so I've spent with this is really fun, I just need to learn to sloooooow down. I've died already a few times by rushing into shit I shouldn't. But meh, It'll come to me.

Also, whats the deal with people killing themselves in the Nexus? I remember vaguely reading about it towards the beginning of this topic, but I can't seem to find it. Whats the advantages between being in human form vs soul form?

To go kill things in soul form and pvp invasions too.

Suicide in the Nexus doesn't affect World Tendencies at all, so it's a good place to go if you ever need to go into Soul Form without repercussion, for say, farming purposes.

i forgot to say never consume the special soul given by bosses(When you defeat them a archstone will pop and they will give u the special soul), you need to use them to synth weapons or learn special magic.

If you plan on playing through multiple times, consuming the first one won't make much difference. It only has one use, so it's not a big deal to miss out the first time around

For those of you that have played Oblivion, how does this game compare in terms of scope and gameplay? Overall, which would you say you like better?

I couldn't really even compare the two, they're both very much different games.

On the one hand you got Oblivion with its huge open ended world that you can dick around in and do whatevergod knows what with its so-so combat and decent story, and on the other you got the more action-orientated Demon's Souls with much, much smaller areas, and more linear in nature (the Nexus is just a world-select hub), with a kind of online experience that's fresh and new.

I can't really say which one I'd like better though, as I've put enough hours into both as is for them to hold their own worth.


[EDIT] Wow, talk about a lucky break for a BP. He invades me in 1-3, backstabs me twice for next to no HP and deals essentially no damage overall. How did I lose? He managed to knock me back off a ledge into a water well where I fell to my death.

So, I killed every boss minus Garl Vinland, who killed me and when I went back to the archstone to kill him (I killed the Maiden first), he was dead with his armor on the ground. So now I'm not getting the cutscene you're supposed to get after killing every boss

Is my game screwed up?

For those of you that have played Oblivion, how does this game compare in terms of scope and gameplay? Overall, which would you say you like better?

Oblivion is a much much much much more massive game, Demon's Souls starts to feel a bit claustrophobic due to how small the game world is

I really regret not starting as a Royal for Soul Arrow goodness. Soilder is really hard. I was going for a melee build (Flame Shield +4 Winged Spear +4 or 5 i think) and It's not going well.

And I still have the starting armor. Just finished the Flame guy in the tunnels. (2-3?) And I'm a bit stuck as to where i should go next. (Completed 1-1 - 1-3, and 2-1 - 2-3) any suggestions? Or where to get some better shit? Perhaps a better combo I should be focusing on? Fyi, I'm like soul level 31 or 32 or so.

There's a dead body in 3-1 that has a set of fluted armor on it in the basement. (in the same room where you'll meet a big ball of dead bodies that does a powered soul-arrow attack on you)

You should focus on beating 4-1 so you can get onto 4-2 farming goodness.

I don't know what cs you are talking about, do you mean the yellow letters that come when you kill them? anyway the maiden is the boss, did u get the soul when you touch the her archstone? if u did you are done on that stage.

Stage 4 is good for lvling up and the bosses are easy but the enemies are strong so i suggest you get a couple of lvls in that stage.

4-1 joke is a boss-wise, strat is in spoiler, although a couple skellies along the way may give you some trouble.

Attack *his* left foot, and run behind him when he prepares to swing. Rinse and repeat until he falls over, then attack head. It's hard to take damage fighting this guy if you're paying attention.

3-1 on my first playthrough was just a pain in the ass overall for me since I had no easy way of dealing with the cthulu jailers, and the zone is like a maze for quite awhile, the boss though isn't much to write home about since you can play it safe and take your time since there are safe spots to hide at.

ohh i'm sorry you mean for endgame? are you sure you kill everyone? even the false king? just in case check that you have all the archdemons souls(dragon god,false king,old monk,storm ruler and the maiden astrea) if you do i don't know what to say when you have all of them the crystal floor in the middle should be broken(at least you see a cs with the main statue dropping her sword to break it)
